The new Covid variant Omicron could turn out to be a 'Christmas gift' if it causes milder illness, a German health expert claimed today after South African doctors said the strain appears to cause less severe symptoms.
Medics in South Africa said the strain is causing mild symptoms — such as a headache and tiredness — than previous versions of the virus and hasn't led to a single hospitalisation or death.
Professor Karl Lauterbach, a clinical epidemiologist who is in the running to be Germany's next health minister, said the early reports means Omicron could be a Christmas gift and may even speed up the end of the pandemic.

There was a time when people were inoculated with cowpox to protect them from smallpox. Hence the term “milk-maid’s skin.” Women who tended cattle did not contract smallpox. Maybe Omicron will be the cowpox of covid-19.

As bizarre as it sounds if this is true, this is a strain you would *want* to spread to drown out more harmful variants.
I think the Spanish flu did the same thing, mutated away.
Scientific data isn’t immediately available the second something new comes out. Scientists should actually wait for data to develop, instead of trying to push an agenda.
We could have ended it earlier if our Republican leadership not bowed in fear to Fauci and his plandemic. The lockdowns, masking and distancing have caused it to linger and given it more time to mutate.
So the racist over reaction by Biden was both racist and over-reactive?
I thought everyone was exposed to it, and either died or was immune.
