RUSSIA has warned war is 'highly likely' with Ukraine following orders to troops to remain 'combat ready' after speculation of a Ukrainian invasion.

The Kremlin has said that Kiev's desire to retake Crimea is "direct threat", as the US vows to respond following growing reports of a Russian invasion.

Tensions between Ukraine and Russia have been escalating over recent weeks, with Moscow having massed troops within striking distance of its neighbour’s borders.

Vladimir Putin has also ordered US officials to leave Russia immediately amid fears he plans to order an invasion of Ukraine, before the end of January.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in parliament that Crimea - which Moscow seized in 2014 - was Ukrainian territory and Kiev's goal was to 'liberate' it, focusing on diplomatic solutions.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow is worried about the possibility of a Ukrainian military move.

He said: "Speaking in parliament, Zelensky said that the return of Crimea should be the main goal and philosophy of Ukraine.

"We see this as a direct threat to Russia.

US vows to respond

Don't expect Germany or several other Euro nations to respond. They need Pootie Poot to provide them Winter fuel. Hell, maybe Germany would side with Russia.

Ukriane isn’t a vital US national interest, it sits right on the Russian border, and much of it was traditionally Russian from the days of the Kievan Rus. Starting to hear a bit on this site of the old John McCain “We are all Ukrainians” now. Not me, let William Kristol lead the volunteers to the battle lines.

Agreed..
I just ask myself one question..
Is this worth planting one of my son’s over?

The answer since 2002 has always been no.

It is very sad and unfortunate that young men in their prime are about to die and become maimed. Ther are consequences to bad diplomacy and policy. When Blincken and the other NATO ministers get together, pose for photo ops, make useless rants, announce that the result of a Russian invasion will be “sanctions” ( which will of course not disrupt pipelines or the sale of gas) and sternly worded letters but no real military response, then Putin knows that he can do what he wants.

Ukraine has been a cancer on US policy and especially America’s domestic politics, since the CIA turned it from a Russian kleptocracy, to an American kleptocracy in 2014.

That is the most balanced statement I have seen in a long time.

So it won't happen

When did Russia invade and grab the Crimea from the Ukraine last?
2014...when Biden was vice president.
What did Obama/Biden do about it? Nothing outside of empty gestures.

How stupid is it to come between Ukraine and Russia in their fight? Our girl-boiz would get clobbered by both sides. Those countries haven't forgotten what men are. They haven't forgotten the mission of the warrior. Hint: it has nothing to do with "pronouns".

Wow. Xiden is helping create a DIVERSION for China to INVADE TAIWAN.

I'm sure Putin is shaking in his boots after what he witnessed during our surrender in Afghanistan, the same useless crew who failed in Benghazi.

Hi.

Help me here. How many times has Russia invaded and owned the Crimea? Everybody had a piece...Ottomans, British etc.

How many times has the Ukraine been invaded and own by Russia?

Then there’s the Hun and Mongol.

History sure as hell rhymes.

Ukraine biggest mistake was relying on the USA and Nato for security. Ukraine should have kept their nukes. John Mearsheimer was correct.

Vladimir Putin has also ordered US officials to leave Russia immediately...

I think what is going on is Putin has ordered that no Russians can work for American officials, and no foreigners who would take support jobs are given visa that allow them to work in Russia.

It sorta crimps their ability to disrupt.

This is the UK Sun, just one step up from the National Enquirer, so consider the source. I wouldn’t get my shorts in a wad or declare Armageddon until someone with more credibility and less selective quotes corroborates the story.

Well, they really don’t have much to say about it. The CCP will not hesitate to “give them a whiff of grapeshot”.
Actually they do. Xi knows there are limits he can push the people and one of those limits is mass military casualties - this isn't Korea, and Xi is not Mao. Not mention the other factions (Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao) which hate him and would love to see him make that blunder/miscalculation. He be killed. (It was a close call this last Party celebration). With the entire country in revolt, including the military, the CCP will go down. Which is not something the CCP can permit. So no war - skirmishes sure ; threats, intimidation, mass pro-CCP propaganda, of course. No war.
