The mom may be sick of the Bidens, and not want the kid
mentioned in conjunction with them.
The Bidens are slugs, but the mom does have a right to keep
the kid out of the limelight if she wants.

hurtful to her.

Whatever bad decisions the mother may have made in the past - and I know nothing about her beyond what is in the article - she has made a good decision here, if it was her decision to distance herself from the Bidens.
