Majority believe China is US's biggest threat, while confidence in military has plummeted: Poll

A majority now believe China poses the biggest threat to the United States, while confidence in the U.S. military has simultaneously dropped.

Less than half of the roughly 2,500 people who participated in the fourth annual Ronald Reagan Foundation and Institute survey , which was released on Wednesday, said they have “a great deal” of confidence in the military.

Specifically, 45% of respondents said they felt that way, but this represents a significant decline compared to the 70% of people who answered that way in the same survey in November 2018.

Those who said they have little or not much confidence in the military pointed to a number of reasons they felt that way, though there was no clear front-runner. Of this group, 13% cited political leadership, 9% cited service members and anything related to scandals in the military, and at 8% was military leadership and the belief that the military is both too expensive and has the wrong priorities.

The military’s declining favorability was also demonstrated by those who no longer believe the U.S. military is the “best in the world.”

Forty-five percent of survey respondents said they believe the U.S. military to be “one of the best,” while 43% said it should be considered the “best.”

While confidence in the military is declining, according to the results of the survey, respondents are now showing a greater concern for the threat China could pose to the U.S. Fifty-two percent of people surveyed listed China as the greatest threat to the U.S., while 14% said Russia, which was second. Three years earlier, 30% said Russia compared to 21% who said China.

Additionally, 65% consider China an enemy, which marks a 10-point increase over the last three years, while only 23% said they consider China an ally.

The rats may eviscerate the military, but at least our soldiers will “understand white rage.” Milley and the boys in the Joint Chiefs are doing a bang up job

The combined threat of the Chinese Communists, Neo Soviet Russians, and a four+ front war is real. Taiwan, Korea, Eastern Europe, Middle East (specifically Iran). Latin America is the + in this equation.

communist chins has been a threat since Mao’s little red book transformed the nation.

our politicians have been so soviet viewed, whether because they hate them or wish to be a clone of them, that they have held pre-1940 ideas of what red china was.

as to our military, from obama to trump to old joe, in any real war with a uniformed opponent, we phooked!

Heck, nevermind that the general public doesn’t have confidence in the military, the military DOESN’T have confidence in the military!

Biggest threat?

Always internal. China is not a threat if the US were led by sane people and not Brandonists.

Plus a bunch of ships running into each other, submerged mountains, and catching fire and sinking while right at the dock. Yeah. My brother was a sailor during VietNam. it sure isn’t the same Navy now.

The biggest threats to our country are those in DC and at the southern border.

WRONG! Who did this is the filthy scum otherwise known as Liberals, Progressives, Socialists, Communists, Democrats, cowardly Republicans, and other anti-American TRASH collectively known as the Deep State. The destruction wrought by these American haters commenced in 2008 when ignorant voters elected an anti-American to the Presidency who was constitutionally ineligible to be nominated for that office. The decline of America and its military is a direct result of that unconstitutional debacle.

I don’t blame the military for Afghanistan. II blame them for not stopping the usurpers from taking the oath on the 20th of Jan. We keep being told something is coming. Yeah right. They should quit lying to us and just say the formerly great USA is a vassal state of China, and they’d nuke us if the military tried anything

Well well well, you said WRONG. And then proceeded to prove my point, exactly as I ment it. Afganistan is a summation of all that you said, and more. Such as, we have totally lost the trust of our long time allies and have diminished ourselves before our enemies... and on and on.
