Reading this, one notes that the wounds inflicted are NOT minor - life threatening. Yet deserving only of misdemeanor charges in Chicago.

Advanced civilizations are built around the Rule of Law, wherein a known body of laws are enforced by police given a monopoly of force, a judicial system, and a penal system, all serving to “socialize” and “depersonalize” the response to criminal acts. I guess in Cook County she would have to kill someone before the State’s Attorney would begin to get serious. I don’t know how many times I have heard of that happening. Some years back , a little girl in Chicago was gunned down when she was caught in a shootout between gangs. Witnesses said the leader of one of the gangs was a black man with a foreign accent. I saw an interview with one of the cops and he said they knew right away who the man was from that description. Sure they did. The leader had been arrested 24 other times, and he was here illegally from some place in Africa.
