WASHINGTON — Republicans have seized on inflation as a centerpiece of their campaign to take back Congress next fall, laying blame for rising prices on President Joe Biden and his congressional allies as voters express increased concern.
But beyond blocking Biden’s wide-ranging social safety net and climate action plan — under consideration in the Senate through a process that would allow Democrats to pass it along party lines — how the GOP would tackle a notoriously difficult economic trend is less clear.
Interviews with a half-dozen Republicans showed that while the party is not yet unified around a specific plan, other proposals include boosting domestic energy production, eliminating Covid-19 restrictions and vaccine mandates and cutting shipping and trucking regulations.
Experts said the Republican ideas amount to a mixed bag: Some could help alleviate inflationary pressures, while others would have little effect or no effect in addressing the cause of increased costs or would not materially affect the economy for years.
But economists say that unless government spending is slashed across the board, blocking this particular piece of legislation, even with its $1.68 trillion price tag, won’t do much to address the issue.Inflation in the U.S. is partially influenced by the global supply chain crisis, shifting consumer behavior and an influx of government spending approved by Biden and then-President Donald Trump to keep households afloat during the pandemic.

What was the inflation rate before the
ChiCom Flu hit?
As if anyone thinks they can get advice from the second dumbest group of people in the multiverse. The first being a tie between politicians and the NEA.
Remember when Hillary was up against Obama during the debates?
Whatever they asked her, she answered, first.
Then Obama would be asked the same question after her.
Invariably, the Won, would essentially say, “the same only better.”
My guess is that the dems don’t have a clue and are looking for the GOP to rescue them.
Inflation? Everybody knows about that; they’re experiencing it in their everyday lives! Leave it to ‘republicans’ to pluck the low-hanging fruit, and then expect us to vote for them for their ‘heroics!’ *Rolleyes*
How about CONFRONTING the ‘Full Frontal Communism’ the Socialist Democrats are ramming down our collective throats? Too many don’t seem to be seeing THAT!
But, no one ever listens to me. :(
Increase supply...prices will go down. Econ 101
Less regulations will solve most of the problem. But no way will any Democrat give up that power. Republicans might. It depends on the Republican.
“Seized”
At least they didn’t “pounce”
Confrontation absent serious pain is worthless
The action must be intimidating and painful
1. Not shut down the oil pipeline and domestic fuel production.
2. Not launch an expensive war against the weather.
3. Not print trillions of dollars.
All 9f the obey started under Republican leadership. L9ckdowns, masks, gaxxes. It was the leftist dream come true. So pardon me if you think i should trust them.
> Confrontation absent serious pain is worthless <
Lots of truth there. And it’s something that the Left is well aware of. Disagree with any of them and they’ll call you vile names, and try to cancel you.
Unfortunately, most GOP leaders are still playing with rules from the 1950s.

Even better, limit demand. Keep a lid on the economy with shutdowns and masks - presto!
No inflation — because you either can’t get there to buy it, or you can’t use it if you do.
Ask Trump.
RNC will probably only fund-raise.
About 2%, give or take. The inflation rate for 2020, the height of COVID, was 1.2%. It didn't really start taking off again until this past April, when the vaccine was kicking in, another stimulus check had hit consumers, and pent up demand was starting to result in more spending.
Thanks
Might as well add Goolsby to the by-line because all these suck-ups did was quote him, without evidence. Was Goolsby in with Krugman that there wasn’t any inflation; or with Ruhle that it didn’t matter because people had all this extra money? Very likely the Republicans should dismantle the mechanisms by which, quoting liberal Bobby Kennedy in the Tucker Carlson today interview, the elites have engineered the wealth transfer of $3.2 trillion from the middle class to the elites. #1 —focus on therapeutics , especially the monoclonals to treat the sick, because there is no legitimate push back on an FDA eua; and leave everybody else alone. How is productivity, the real sink for inflation, enhanced by getting rid of experienced workers with the vaccine mandate?
These “Republicans Pounce” pieces are getting more fun to read everyday.
