The left is the modern version of Judas

Jhn 12:4 - But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected,

Jhn 12:5 - “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.

Jhn 12:6 - He did not say this because he cared about the poor

but because he was a thief;

as keeper of the money bag,

he used to help himself

to what was put into it.

/\

Commies are all thieves and liars at heart

The purpose of being progressive is to not be altruistic.

It is better to continuously whine about black inequality than to think of something good

The Left hates altruism because it is voluntary.

Watch out when someone quotes John W. Gardner, who was HEW Secretary under LBJ ( think Great Society) and founder of Common Cause— a divisive liberal non-profit whose commitment to unity was the same character as Joe Biden’s, maybe without the poisonous malice of wanting to put sociopaths into the streets to gain political power. Better to quote Arthur Brooks who wrote “Who Really Cares” 15 years ago. He had an honest journey when he set out to research charitable giving, from expecting to find bleeding heart “liberals” to be more charitable, to finding very much the opposite. So much so that he found conservatives even donated blood at a much higher volume. He also found in conversations with Europeans that charity is virtually dead there as the attitude is the government can do it. Brooks’ closing argument was that children growing up in families with a charitable, serving outlook were happier and purpose driven ( I suppose that’s why Gardner’s quote sounds ok, though his actual projects belie the theme). Also , recognize Brooks went on to head AEI and now at Harvard Kennedy School, so there is a question of being unequally yoked.https://www.aei.org/op-eds/trump-and-i-disagreed-at-the-national-prayer-breakfast-but-we-listened-to-each-other/

Does the Left Hate Altruism?

The left hates anything and everything that isn't the left. All they care about is power and control. It is their Raison d'être. If anything gets in the way of acquiring more power and control, it is hated, it must be destroyed.

Note, a United States of America where people have true freedom and liberty stands squarely in the way of the left. Therefore...

There is a school of thought that denies any selflessness in "Altruism". As though it is all self serving.

That is where the Left comes from.

You misunderstand their motivation. They sincerely believe socialism is the ultimate altruistic cause because it promises equal outcome for all. They consider themselves the only ones capable of bringing about about this condition of equity, therefore anything they do in pursuit of that goal is morally — not merely justified but — mandatory.
