Joe Biden Addresses High Gas Prices: Americans Can Save Money if They Buy Electric Cars
Breitbart ^ | 11/23/2021 | CHARLIE SPIERING

President Joe Biden promoted his efforts to lower gas prices on Tuesday, but he reminded Americans they would save more money on gas if they owned electric cars.

“For the hundreds of thousands of folks who bought one of those electric cars, they’re going to save $800 to $1000 in fuel costs this year,” Biden said, referring to the $112,595 electric Hummer pickup he test drove at a General Motors factory in Detroit earlier this month.

Automakers are ALL-IN on government requirements towards electric cars because

- the auto industry is a government-supported oligopoly

- electric cars are highly regulated, limiting competition

- electric cars are EXPENSIVE. It means higher sales and profits for makers.

they all seem to believe that electricity comes from fairies or unicorn farts.

May have to research those as energy sources since they obstruct the construction of reliable power production and try to close down what we already have. So just how are we supposed to power this green electric culture if there is no infrastructure to do it with.

Another thing(s): How far would the EV go in winter like up in Michigan or the Dakotas where the winter temp dives into minus degrees and you’re running the heater full blast? Then too, in high summer in the SW like AZ or NM with temps in +100 and you’re running the A/C full blast?

the way to do it is to make gas unaffordable.

There was a report today the oil the a hole is releasing, the 50 million barrels, is sour oil, not the light sweet used in distillate like gasoline.

Gas is down 10 cents a gallon over the past week or two in my area so someone is doing something.

IMHO it's mainly about the value of the dollar increasing lately (the Fed tapering the "not QE" they've been doing for years). I'm not saying the dollar hasn't been yuugely devalued. I'm saying it's going back up some lately. That puts downward price pressure on everything on the market, most notably oil and gas. All my life the price of oil and gas are the things on the market that change fastest whenever the value of the dollar changes.

Look at the DXY index showing the dollar value relative to other currencies at https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/.DXY and choose the 1M option to look at it go up the past week. Then do the same with https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/USO to see the value of an ETF that tracks (somewhat) the price of oil (I say "somewhat" because option activity can sometimes monkey with the price of USO).

Joe, you senile old fart, I own an electric Mustang. Love it, great commuter car. But it does nothing good for the environment. Yes, I do save money because my short commutes are inefficient for my V8 Hemi, but it in no way makes up for the cost of the new car (though yeah, the tax credit this year will help).

I’d MUCH rather have the “drill baby drill” policies under Trump back you dimwitted old fool.

He learned from Obama who said that increased gas prices would result in savings since we would buy less gas.

I can purchase a great deal of gasoline for the price of an electric car.

I haven't researched how an EV would perform up in the Dakotas or Michigan. As someone who has a day job I have only enough time to research how to optimize things here in Sweet Home Alabama. Surely up there you have a few analytical programmers or engineers who are also conservative (read: don't automatically lie about EV's being awesome) to do the analysis.

As far as people in the southwest "...running the A/C full blast" I promise you we can relate here in the southeast with our 90+ temps and high humidity. That's part of my math on expecting the miles per kWh to be 10% less than the advertised performance, much like buying a gas car. At least, that's what I experience compared to driving in the winter months. (For the record, that's also not getting into a lower performance when loading it with cargo, since I was using numbers for gas truck vs EV truck, not cars. That's a whole 'nuther ball of wax, but I use my truck like that maybe only 1% or 2% of the time without counting throwing grungy but light stuff in the back like a lawnmower or taking out my church's trash. If I toted heavy cargo a lot for long distances I'd be really worried about range per charge.)

What a cheesy 3rd rate Commie salesman as these misfits peddle policies that can be defined as sabotage.

Biden says while you’re paying 5 bucks a gallon, you dummies should have lots of cash left over to buy one of his electrical appliance vehicles.

Wow...

Distance plus time to recharge to me are the most important. You drive to see grannie and have to stop to recharge and it takes almost 8 hours now to full charge?

I just flew in to KC and waiting on an incoming flight to take it to Philly.

If GOP voters were smart, they would primary all 50 GOP Senators, and about 85% of GOP Congressman, and replace them all with middle class business people who have never run for any office before.

But we’re not smart. We still think that Uniparty thespians, like Sam Waterston, I mean Tom Cotton, are the lesser of two evils. When they’re actually more evil in their deceptiveness.

No, we’re not smart. We still think that November elections are important, and whether or not the GOP is in the majority. IT’S MEANINGLESS! Running every last RINO out of office in the primaries is the only thing that matters.

Give me 300 Teddy Daniels’, then dare the soccer moms to hand power to the Democrats. Call the freakin’ GOPe triangulationist’s bluff!
