The body was ID'ed in a few days after being found using dental records, but cause of death months later.

Family was able to get the dental records in advance of the body being found...somehow.

Getting another person's medical records requires somehow getting Power of Attorney over that person who was not yet suspected to be dead or no longer being able care for themselves and/or make decisions.

The fact is , they will never know whether it truly was self inflicted or not.
