LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Cadell Walker rushed to get her 9-year-old daughter Solome vaccinated against COVID-19 — not just to protect her but to help stop the coronavirus from spreading and spawning even more dangerous variants.
Scientists agree. Each infection — whether in an adult in Yemen or a kid in Kentucky — gives the virus another opportunity to mutate. Protecting a new, large chunk of the population anywhere in the world limits those opportunities.
Vaccinating kids also means reducing silent spread, since most have no or mild symptoms when they contract the virus. When the virus spreads unseen, scientists say, it also goes unabated. And as more people contract it, the odds of new variants rise.
Researchers disagree on how much kids have influenced the course of the pandemic. Early research suggested they didn’t contribute much to viral spread. But some experts say children played a significant role this year spreading contagious variants such as alpha and delta.
Getting kids vaccinated could make a real difference going forward, according to estimates by the COVID-19 Scenario Modeling Hub, a collection of university and medical research organizations that consolidates models of how the pandemic may unfold. The hub’s latest estimates show that for this November through March 12, 2022, vaccinating 5- to 11-year-olds would avert about 430,000 COVID cases in the overall U.S. population if no new variant arose. If a variant 50% more transmissible than delta showed up in late fall, 860,000 cases would be averted, “a big impact,” said project co-leader Katriona Shea, of Pennsylvania State University.

IMO, this portrays only one possible outcome. There is also scientific evidence of antibody dependent enhancements of viruses that are caused by vaccines. Happened with RSV.

Experts = anybody on any topic more than 200 miles from home. Could some of these experts, since they aren’t named, be the same ones that decided people with gunshots to the head and dismembered in car crashes died of covid?
What significant role can a vaccine play that is not there to stop the virus but make it, sometimes easier, when you do get the illness. And since they do not have any confirmed vaccine to stop the virus in its tracks, aren’t we still talking about herd immunity just applying it for the future for the first time since it was originally to stop the first disease and not the two varients that have officially spawned from that? As of October 31, an appropriate date for death announcements, National Geographic has declared around 5 million people have died from he variants.
The population of the world according to worldometers.com, is 7.9 billion. At the rate of death from the variants, it will never run out of people to catch them as they will morph anyway as the vaccines are not there to stop it or keep kids from getting it again.
Funny they should select the AP to make this profound stupidity since they haven’t told the truth in over 50 years as it is. They sure wasted a lot of ink as the same thing could be said next year and every year after when the variants spawn variants, at a much faster and higher rate each time. And when we reach variant zulu, they will have to start all over again making the first variant covid 20 with a catchy name like bubonic.
