As Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted in two killings that he said were self-defense, armed civilians patrolled the streets near the Wisconsin courthouse with guns in plain view.
In Georgia, testimony in the trial of Ahmaud Arbery’s killers showed that armed patrols were commonplace in the neighborhood where Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man, was chased down by three white men and shot.
The two proceedings sent startling new signals about the boundaries of self-defense as more guns emerge from homes amid political and racial tensions and the advance of laws that ease permitting requirements and expand the allowable use of force.
Across much of the nation, it has become increasingly acceptable for Americans to walk the streets with firearms, either carried openly or legally concealed. In places that still forbid such behavior, prohibitions on possessing guns in public could soon change if the U.S. Supreme Court strikes down a New York law.
The new status quo for firearms outside the home was on prominent display last week in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Local resident Erick Jordan carried a rifle and holstered handgun near the courthouse where Rittenhouse was tried for killing two men and wounding a third with an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle during a protest last year.
“I got a job to do — protect these people. That’s it,” said Jordan, referring to speakers at a news conference that was held in the hours after the verdict.

Yes. How many time do we have to hear these low IQ black commentators and activist scream on TV about how dangerous and evil white men are without someone putting them in place with ACTUAL CRIME STATS IN THIS COUNTRY!! We know who are the most dangerous, and it ain’t whitey.
Not a word was said when antfia and BLM groups including the NFA black militia was walking around armed.

These people don’t know Wisconsin. Guns here are as abundant as pumpkins on Halloween. They always have been. Kids miss a week of school every November to go hunting with their dad. Wives hunt. And wives hunt with bows. Its crazy for those reporters from the coasts to come here and act as though guns are a new thing. We have guns, we have always had guns. And we kill few people with them. But when we shoot, we hit what we shoot at. Everyone knows how to shoot. But we have more boating deaths each year than gun deaths. Wisconsin for all its guns has few murders.
A funny thing here in Wisconsin, when we hear of a shooting. Where someone sprays a crowd with bullets and injures 10 people, the folks in Wisconsin say, can’t be around here, we kill what we shoot.
I'm sorry I've watched the country get to the point where people that didn't ever want to carry a gun now have to for their safety, but that's where we are now. It's not my fault that cops are standing down and thugs are released from prison, but that doesn't mean I or Kyle Rittenhouse have to allow themselves to be beaten to death without a fight.

Actually, they were following the thief, trying to hold him for the cops when he attacked the one carrying the shotgun.
It’s funny,too..how criminal type behavior is not a problem..that is until someone confronts it.
The AP has been making a habit lately of writing articles on firearms from authors with little knowledge of the subject.
