WALNUT CREEK (CBS SF) — Dozens of looters swarmed into the Nordstrom store in downtown Walnut Creek Saturday night, terrorizing shoppers, ripping off bag loads of merchandise and ransacking shelves before fleeing in a several vehicles waiting for them on the street.
Walnut Creek Lt. Ryan Hibbs told KPIX 5 that police began receiving calls about the looting at around 9 p.m. He said there were approximately 80 individuals who ran into the store and began looting and smashing shelves.
Video shot at the scene shows the masked looters streaming out of the store, carrying bags and boxes, jumping into the cars.
Dozens of police vehicles also responded to the scene.
Hibbs said officers stopped one vehicle and arrested both suspects — a male and a female — inside. The male was charged with robbery, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of burglary tools. The female was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Stolen property from the looting and a firearm was recovered from their vehicle.
A third suspect was caught on foot and arrested. He was also charged with robbery, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of burglary tools.
Brett Barrett is one of the managers of P.F. Chang’s restaurant across from the Nordstrom store. He watched as the bedlam unfolded.
“I probably saw 50-80 people in like ski masks with crowbars, a bunch of weapons,” he said. “They were looting the Nordstrom.”
“There was a mob of people,” he continued. “The police were flying in. It was like a scene out of a movie. It was insane.”
Barrett also worried about the safety of the diners in his restaurant. Many crowded around the windows to watch the looters flee.
“I had to start locking the back door. You never know, they could come right in here. It was crazy…All the guests inside were getting concerned. It was a scary scene for a moment.”
Next will be all the blue state cities and surrounding suburbs.
Well, the ‘luxury getaway SUVs’ might have been stolen.
Doesn’t matter the percentage makeup. It’s the willingness to organize, communicate via mass media, hit the objective, and hope they are not infiltrated by the FIB. They must have a willingness to be arrested.
I just googled louis vuitton handbags. Ugly as sin and cost more than my car!
RE: Well, the ‘luxury getaway SUVs’ might have been stolen.
I’ve heard of the term accelerated early release programs for leases. This one lasts a day or so. And the true owner isn’t notified until it’s in the police impound lot five miles outside of the city.
Actually, she lives in wine country to the north of SF, in a guarded mansion surrounded by acres of defensible land. Same for Newsom (nephew of Pelosi) - they have armed guards and are far removed from the terror experienced by the common folk.
Like feudal lords in their castles. It's positively medieval!
I first heard of this in 1993……just one car though.
.
This could not have worked out better for Amazon.com if they PAID people to do this. Hmmmm.
That same Walnut Creek Broadway Plaza shopping center has an Amazon Bookstore.
I sent the story link straight to the f’n Governor and told him point-blank he, and his psychopathic Democrat party, 100% top-to-bottom OWN this.
EVERY societal flaw that precipitated this event evolved out of DEMOCRAT policies. ALL of it.
California = “ Who cares?”
They voted for it, and I hope they get it good and hard like this every day.
I just noticed this in the Daily Mail version:
“Two employees were attacked by looters who punched and kicked them while another was pepper sprayed.
All three were treated for their injuries on scene.”
So employees are supposed to refrain from following the culprits out of the store or be fired from jobs, but the criminals can decide to assault the workers at the store? What if an employee gets really injured badly or killed?
Still “no arrests?”
At first I thought... “There is no downtown Walnit Creek!”
Then I remembered, “Wait, this is Florida....can’t be OUR Walnut Creek...”
-
Not sure what you mean. Walnut Creek has always had a downtown. Exactly where this happened.
I’m contrasting with Walnut Creek, FL
“This event was almost the equivalent of a Martian invasion for the old-timers that live and shop there.”
Old timers there seem out of place now.
Sooner or later it will come to that... There just isn't any other way to save a civil society.. You must PAY for your crimes, one way or the other, or there is NO civilization...
I live in the central valley of california (visalia). I find it intresting that while walgreens was forced to shut down in the walnut area. I am seeing merchandias they would carry when I go to garauge sales in my area. I see a lot of merchandiase being =sold by families that have members sporting gang tats. This new development means That I should start seeing things other then mouth wash tooth paste and detergents at theses Garauge sales that seem to be held on a reguler basis at theses locals
Apt description of the cancer.. If the cure isn't applied soon, the patient (city, county, state and nation) will be no more....
