The Christian Zionist pastor of a major church asked forgiveness for allowing the church to host an event where Michael Flynn said that the United States should only have one religion.
“Last week I allowed an event to be held at Cornerstone Church by an outside organization,” Pastor Matt Hagee said in a statement Thursday. “Regrettably, the organization was not properly vetted. It was not appropriate to allow this event at our church. The Church is not associated with this organization and does not endorse their views.”
Hagee’s father is Pastor John Hagee, who founded Christians United For Israel, the powerhouse Christian pro-Israel group.
The event took place on Saturday and was part of ReAwaken America, a Christian-themed speaking tour backed by the Christian news network America Faith. Flynn, former US President Donald Trump’s first national security adviser, gave a speech at the event calling for a single US religion.
Flynn is also one of the most ardent defenders of Trump’s false claim that he won last year’s presidential election.
“If we are going to have one nation under God, which we must, we have to have one religion,” Flynn said. “One nation under God, and one religion under God.”

“Flynn is also one of the most ardent defenders of Trump’s false claim that he won last year’s presidential election.” Now you know where Arutz Sheva stands.
He did say that. I think he had a brain fart.
Ron Kampeas of the JTA, specifically.
Why? You think all religions are equal? Many ways to God?
There is always a short quote from Flynn, making him appear extreme.
Saw him on television recently, he seemed level headed.
I assume his words get taken out of context. Not sure, but why would he call for one religion?
Then again it’s no great crime to wish everyone was a Christian, Jew, Muslim or anything else you’d like. Not sure how it could be achieved, except I know exactly how the Muslims could come close to achieving it. Look at what they’ve done in every country they dominate.
No—he stated that the United States should have only one religion.
Wow, back in the old days, Christian pastors were actually Christian.
And the Pope was actually Catholic.
And the President was actually patriotic.
And we believed network news.
And colleges actually were there for smart students.
I would be puzzled by that statement because I thought the idea was not to have one religion imposed upon people.
All religions equally claim to have the way to G-d, and contend that they have the truth. Since we are all fallible human beings, our respective claims to be the sole possessors of the truth must remain unresolved, if we are to remain a civil society. Muslims claim that they have resolved the truth of their claim, and are entitled to use force, if necessary. So do communists.
Catholics and Protestants used to believe something similar, but then they grew up after beating each other senseless. Jews used to, too, back when we had the Arc of the Covenant and prophets and such. Since we are now without those things, we cannot aggressively make that claim until we regain them. So Catholics, Protestants and Jews have to maintain a defensive posture against the aggressive Muslims and communists, and form alliances against them, and therefore it behooves us to be tolerant of one another and of Hindus, who are polytheistic but naturally tolerant people, and Buddhists, who are passive fatalists, I think.
Gen, Flynn is right.
We are one Nation under God, not one Nation under gods.
See 10.
1) Hindus are no longer natirally tolerant,
2) Neither is Matt Hagee /spit
“And colleges actually were there for smart students.”
They are. They go there to be made stupid.
Are we a nation of many gods or just one? Therefore what he said was not too outrageous.
Amazing what a possible loss of tax exempt status will do to your recollection of events.
1. I’m fortunate to live in a country with few Hindus, then.
2. I’m fortunate to have no dealings with Matt Hagee.
Tolerance is a good thing. If America is to have one religion, there would either have to be consensus as to which religion, which won’t happen, or never-ending strife, which can and has happened many times.
I think Flynn meant that all Americans should be deists and recognize a supreme being. That is an interpretation consistent with our founding documents.
I am so sick of gutless little worms apologizing when anyone says boo.
We must find the full context. It’s implausible that he just jumped out from behind a curtain, said “America should have one religion!” and then skedaddled, leaving this dumb-sounding sound bite for all the media to exploit.
