Austria has a 71-72% vaccination rate. Add in another 10-15% with natural immunity from a previous infection, and they should be well above the traditional threshold for herd immunity. But the pandemic continues. Why is that? The vaccines seem to be prolonging it.

Austria through 20+ months — ( 11,848 deaths since beginning of pandemic / 9,006,398 Austrians ) x 100 = 0.131 %

Less than two-tenths of one percent dead. The “pandemic” has been a hoax, while the rising fascism is a fact and growing epidemic.

It must be the water that keeps producing “Austrian Corporals”.

With a 72% vaccination rate, Austria's Covid-19 cases are now 50% higher than at any time when no one was vaccinated, and more than double what they were on this date last year when no one was vaccinated. Deaths are higher than at any time prior to November 6th, 2020, when no one was vaccinated.

Blaming the current situation on the unvaccinated seems to be a very simplistic explanation for the dynamics of what is really going on. Clearly, the vaccines are not delivering on their promises.

I can’t help thinking this is about money. Nothing about it is rational.

Here’s hoping for an uprising in Austria. It’s time.

Well. Hitler was an Austrian. Not a native German. Like Napoleon was a Corsican, not a native Frenchman. And Obama is an Kenyan, not a native American. All these people did vast harm to their adopted nations while pretending to help them. seems to be a theme going on here.

Austria bred one of the worst human beings in history. Never forget.

Just as Stalin was Georgian, not Russian.

Thanks for putting some perspective on the death count. If 1% of the Austrian population dies every year from all causes (probably a low estimate), you would expect 181,000 deaths in two years.

If we round-up the current 11,951 deaths to 13,000 by the end of the year, Covid deaths would account for approximately 7% of the expected deaths, or one in fourteen. For that, they are shutting down the country and forcing the vaccines on the unwilling.

Strawman argument. The vaccines are not 100% effective in preventing illnesses. No one has claimed they are.

Not so much about money as far as politicians are concerned.

From a different thread, h/t to The Ignorant Fisherman:

Now my dear friends; in 2021 we are seeing all of the godless and lawless aspirations and dreams of demonic evil men and women fully coming to be through years of incrementally prepping a people and nation.

"Strawman argument. The vaccines are not 100% effective in preventing illnesses. No one has claimed they are."

You are the one making the strawman argument. My point wasn't that some vaccinated people get infected, but that despite a high rate of vaccination in places like Austria MORE people are being infected than when NO ONE was vaccinated. Just the other day, in Austria there were 50% more new cases reported that at ANY time when no one was vaccinated.

Your argument is a strawman since you are arguing against something no one has claimed, ie, that vaccinations are 100% effective.
The second point is this: cases may have increased, but the important thing is that illnesses are not as serious as before. Hospitalizations and deaths are below previous numbers even though cases have increased.

It must be the water that keeps producing “Austrian Corporals”.

Then how does one explain Australia, which became a totalitarian state almost overnight? Or Italy, which has more stringent requirements than Austria?

I have no connections to Austria, but the people who kept an empire in Eastern Europe up until 100 years ago don't strike me as stupid; I think the measures they are taking here are as unexpected as the leadership Sweden has been showing by refusing the lockdowns.

We can always fall back on stereotypes; that's easy. But one of the things that the sociologists are going to have to piece together later this century is what compelled different countries to respond as they did in response to Covid, and how particular countries (such as our own) failed so spectacularly.
