Airline policy you've never heard of might foil your holiday travel plans [for illegal aliens]

… A few afternoons each month, I am also a volunteer with an organization that helps migrants released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention reunite with their families. As much as we try to smooth this last leg of the journey, the only part we can control, Delta Airlines’ credit card policy foiled us multiple times last month.

For some number of people, Delta flags their flight bookings and requires the credit card used for purchase to be shown at check-in. There is no way out and no way around it.

The migrants detained by ICE and flown to a detention center exit with little more than the clothes on their back and the colored ID cards ICE gives them while it keeps their passports. Their families are ready and willing to book flights, but sometimes Delta simply does not let them.

Each afternoon, the privately run ICE detention center releases migrants allowed to await their asylum hearing freely, granted asylum or released on bond.

These migrant travelers rarely speak English and often have little concept of what part of the country ICE flew them to before releasing them. (The most common question they ask is the name of the nearest airport.) Almost nobody who comes out had more than an hour or two of a heads-up that they would be released that day. What they almost all share, though, is that they have family or friends, somewhere in the U.S., credit card in hand, ready to book them a flight to Baltimore, New York, Houston or wherever they might live.

The nonprofit supplies shelter, cellphones and warm clothes and helps their families navigate booking a flight.

"It is kind of a stupid policy. You can’t buy someone else a ticket?"

This is increasingly standard policy where the same credit card used for the booking must be used to complete the boarding or reservation. Daughter had a beach vacation reservation refused over this. She was told it was because of security and anti-fraud reasons. They would not accept cash. Such is our brave new world of digital commerce.

First Naomi says they have nothing but the clothes on their backs, then turns right around and tell us they have the means to fly, not bus to anywhere in the country they want.

I guess but again it’s kind of silly to me. So you and only you can buy the ticket? I haven’t flown much in the last few years but flew almost 1 million miles between 2010-2018. Was traveling half the year more or less. I don’t remember them requiring the same card. I mostly flew Delta during that time and just entered my frequent flier number in the kiosk, and it printed the boarding card and baggage tags.

I have flown Southwest in the last year. They send you the boarding pass by text or email. No check-in required at all. And for that I didn’t even have a FF account.

Sure CC fraud exists, but it’s kind of moronic to use a fraudulent card and then show up with your ID. And this day and age, with so much technology, it just seems anachronistic to insist one present the same card for a ticket already paid for days, weeks or months in advance. Text/email alerts for suspected fraud? No other way to verify the transaction’s authenticity?

Deport them all. They can reunite in some other country. The reason they have no id? It is because the intentionally dropped them on the ground just before crossing the Rio Grande. Prosecute those helping them on human trafficking charges.

If they have family or friends ready to put the airline ticket on their credit card, then they can get their butts on a flight to go pick up the invader in person. My violin is very small for this sob story.

And of course, JB will issue a mandate for Delta and the rest to circumvent that procedure and let them fly.

The late great FReeper Dale Reed, who had plenty of cash but didn’t want or have a credit or debit card, told me about getting air line tickets for his wife and himself paying by check through a travel agency.

When they reached their destination, they tried every car rental place and not a single one would rent them a car unless he had a credit card. Not even when he offered to pay the price of the car, in cash, as a deposit.

Requiring alien invaders to pay for their invasion costs is not at all stupid. Only someone with a monkey IQ would find it stupid.

LOL.

. I didn’t. I timed my entrance with the departure of someone who had paid. Had to be quick though as the doors had self closing springs.

That ain’t what I said. I clearly meant “grandma can’t buy grandkids tickets to visit using her credit card”? That’s stupid.
