I graduated from high school in 1965. French and Latin were the two languages taught in my school at that time.
We all know that if Odysseus was black, Athena wouldn't have given him so much help. /s
Yes, but BLACK ATHENA would.
If Athena was black, Africa would be worth a damn
—”A bane to their enemies; and to their friends, great joy.”
And after an extended absence with the help of his son and later with his father, Odysseus cleaned house and took names.
Very sad that Argos his faithful dog was not to continue on with his master.
If you have the time take a look at the Emily Wilson translation. For me it was a vast improvement.
I suspect writer Wilson was assisted by Athena!
I may read it just for a respite from the world “news”.
From the first name, I'd guess he's from the planet Krypton, and I might be willing to further venture from south of the border there...
My daughter was in the National Latin Honor Society when she was in high school. Don’t even know if that exists now.
I had 8 years of Latin, from ‘63-’67 in HS, and from ‘67-’71 at Drake University, and was on the National Latin Honor Society. I don’t know if it still exists, either... also had 1 year of Classical Greek at the University.
I shall! Tx!
