Thanksgiving last year was a rather somber affair for many, as the COVID-19 pandemic had families across the country downsizing the number of guests they could have over to celebrate.
This year, though, Americans appear to be making up for lost time, with a record number of people planning to host Thanksgiving celebrations in all their warm, turkey-filled glory.
After conducting a survey of over 2,000 people, LendingTree found that Thanksgiving 2021 is “poised to make a comeback.” The resulting study observed a number of key findings, one of which revealed almost half of respondents (47 percent, to be exact) intended on hosting Thanksgiving dinner—the highest percentage seen in three years.
In getting into the nitty-gritty of demographics, LendingTree found that younger generations (i.e. millennials and those belonging to Gen Z) were most likely to hold a Thanksgiving party at 56 and 55 percent, respectively. The number of dinner guests has also risen above pre-pandemic levels (woot!) with an average of 10 people in attendance.
However, LendingTree notes how those who are hosting Thanksgiving are less likely to stick to a budget this season most likely as a result of supply chain shortages. Millennials on average appear to spend the most cash on their Thanksgiving celebrations (about $461.20, actually) and baby boomers the least (an average total of $232.40)
“I do think that a lot of the uncertainty that is out there thanks to inflation, supply chain issues and other factors is affecting how people are handling their budgets, and that’s a good thing,” says Matt Schulz, LendingTree chief credit analyst. “Budgets should be living, breathing, malleable documents, and that’s especially true in weird economic times like those we currently face.”
Buy your turkey now.
As long as everyone is fully vaxxed? 💉🐴💩
Wait a minute, I don’t think Thanksgiving parties have been given the Fauci Seal of Approval yet.
Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!
Why not!? Sitting at home financed by those of us who gave so much already.
Thanksgiving has been under assault by the left for so long because of its Christian, Conservative beginnings.
This year hopefully will be the start of putting these leftist lying, stealing, cheating ignoramus’s back in their closet, with a turn of the key this time. Add a few padlocks while we are at it.
Glad they found their study...
Excellent, but don’t think the Democrats don’t want to make this

Still a bargain at around $.98/lb.
FAF...FJB and ALLL the Wuhan fascists.
Ignore the idiot “experts” and get on with living.
This year I’m going to Thanksgiving 3 times. Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Makin up for lost time.
That a big let’s go to the powers that be.
It’s an act of defiance by the masses.
My wife and I are not among them. We made reservations for 16.
I’ve never spent $400 on Thanksgiving in my life. This year maybe $75 including wine.
