French president Emmanuel Macron has subtly changed the colour of the French flag, it has been revealed.
The shade of blue that makes up the Tricolour is now navy, a darker shade of blue than was used previously.
The change was confirmed by the Elysée and was changed last year in a bid to reconnect with the French flag of 1793 - a symbol of the French revolution, according to Europe 1. The decision was the subject of much debate within Macron's government, the news outlet reports as some of officials considered the new colour ugly while Macron felt the darker shade was more elegant.
The new flag is on display at Government buildings across the capital including Elysée Palace and the National Assembly.
While the decision was made by Macron, it is understood Arnaud Jolens, his director of operations, who was behind the move

The French seem to have turned complaining into a very popular, shared activity. Many will be severely triggered by this color change of their flag.
The quilt looking squares for LGBTQ and BLM are sort of striking.
The US can have that stuff put on our flag, too.
Goes great with the Black National Anthem and cross dressing gay guest lecturer assemblies at elementary schools.
That “blue” almost looks black; a step towards a transition to a red-and-black flag?
And reconnect with the rabid antiCatholicism with which it was part and parcel?

Supposedly government buildings in France have busts of Marianne, the personification of France, in them, and when the model is changed from Bardot to Deneuve or some other actress, it's a big story over there.
