What was the first thing you learned in that Econ 101 class that you were required to take in school? My guess is that the professor explained "supply and demand." My professor was a wonderful gentleman from Korea who explained it so beautifully: less candy, you pay more for candy. He said something similar the next week: less beer, you pay more for beer, and then the class couldn't stop laughing. Candy or beer, but we got it!
Want to understand why you are paying more for gasoline? Let's check what Katie Pavlich wrote this week:
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, heating costs for American families will increase by 54 percent this winter, making it the most expensive in over a decade. Given President Biden's statements on the 2020 campaign trail, where he launched a war on domestic energy production, this was entirely predictable.
"The Biden campaign made a clear and unequivocal campaign promise to end fossil fuel leasing on public land," Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune told The Washington Post shortly after Election Day.
Just hours after his inauguration, President Biden walked into the Oval Office and issued an executive order stopping construction on the Keystone XL pipeline. One week later, he followed through on promises made to halt new oil and gas leasing on federal land. The White House justified the moves as crucial to combating climate change. Currently, the administration is considering the shutdown of the L5 pipeline that runs from Canada to Michigan, which would further limit energy transport and supply.
This is completely consistent with what I heard from an economist who said on the radio that we are producing a million barrels less now than we were under the previous administration.

Everyone at American Stinker needs to read Rules For Radicals and realize Team Alinsky are following a plan!
Thanks for posting this.
The only cure for leftists to the failures of socialism is more socialism.
They’ve got the misleading media saying it’s due to COVID or any other reason than their terrible politics.
Look at the leftist nuts that leave California then show up to other states and vote for Dems. They’re stuck on stupid.
That was a jump from $6.70 last week.
It used to be $0.75 in the early '70s.
Oh, they all know the basics of economy, truth and honesty. But their allegiance to the erstwhile dictatorship they’re advocating and supporting counteracts that, and they’re depending on EVERY arm of the government in power (MSM, social media, Executive Agencies and all the three letters) to follow lock-step obedience. This isn’t ignorance of basics; it’s nothing but the evil of raw power.
They need to go back to 8th grade math first.
Bump!
It’s posted at a site called “American Thinker,” which is confusing, since they don’t seem to see Biden is not making mistakes, he is deliberately destroying America. Obama (the puppeteer) is not going to make the same mistake twice, leaving enough of our system intact another Trump can reverse large portions of his destruction. Or is America becoming Siberia for the Chinese?
“What you have is not worth what you think it is worth;
what you have is worth what some one else thinks is worth.”

“Money can move from one place to another;
but all money has to sit somewhere.”
Sounds about right, and there are several reasons. Producers have been slow to ramp up production following the demand collapse during Covid:
Their version is not 101 but ECON 010. One coloring page needed with the saying, “Spend other people’s money.”
Scary thought: they took Econ 101.
I was paying $. 33 in the early 70s. Wasn’t old enough to buy it, but they sold it to me.
THEY’RE COMMUNISTS!
Marxist cannot comprehend or understand economics.
The vast majority of Democrats has absolutely no clue about how the real world works. They do not know that:
1. If you raise taxes, people’s behaviors are going to change to avoid paying higher taxes. People’s behaviors will NOT remain static.
2. If you waste money on failed programs, you are helping those programs continue to fail. And giving those programs more money is moronic.
3. If supplies go down, prices go up. Conversely, if supplies go up, prices go down. It really is that simple, but Democrats do not understand simplicity. Their lack of critical thinking skills means they are mired in a convoluted and needlessly-complex world. No wonder we are in trouble when they are in control.
Many Democrats might have college degrees, but that does not make them smart in the real sense of the word. They just have a degree - that’s it. Unfortunately, Democrats think someone having a degree qualifies them for the real world. In most cases, it does not - otherwise they would not have spent so much time in college having to learn things that most of us know through common sense. (And I have two college degrees - electrical engineering and chemical technology - so college is not a complete waste of time if you major in something useful.)
Best I can remember.
But started with Redman and Mailpouch.
Do think a Six Pack about $1.25 when I was sixteen.
Yeah - eight grade is about where Democrats are psychologically and emotionally. Talk about stunted growth!
Unfortunately, most of Congress seems to need remedial math. They need to know that it is the number of zeroes - not necessarily the first number like “30” - that is most significant; as in 30,000,000,000,000 is not the same as 30,000, even though the first numbers are the same. They are mathematical ignoramuses.
