(CNN)The federal government announced a large hike in Medicare premiums Friday night, blaming the pandemic but also what it called uncertainty over how much it may have to be forced to pay for a pricey and controversial new Alzheimer's drug.
The 14.5% increase in Part B premiums will take monthly payments for those in the lowest income bracket from $148.50 a month this year to $170.10 in 2022. Medicare Part B covers physician services, outpatient hospital services, certain home health services, medical equipment, and certain other medical and health services not covered by Medicare Part A, including medications given in doctors' offices. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services played down the spike, pointing out that most beneficiaries also collect Social Security benefits and will see a cost-of-living adjustment of 5.9%...

My wife and I pay $2000.00 per month for our health insurance with a $8750.00 deductible each. No meds are covered until we meet the deductible.we srecage 59. The premium at age 64 is almost $3000.00 per month.
I will never quibble about a small medicate supplement increase when we get on medicare.
So much for that social security increase.
MCARE usually goes up ~the same as their premiums, and wi the 5.9% this year increase they’ll try to get as much back as they can
Then the Communists and Comrade Biden will ship them where they need the votes to defeat republicans AND assist them on voting day. The damned government doesn't care about us. They are ALL in it for their selves, the power, the big bucks from kickbacks, the booze, drugs and women. The US government DOES NOT CARE about you or me. We are basically on our own to survive in this nation now!!!
The people operating him have a limited amount of time to collapse the system. They are all in, now - even a moderate RINO Republican achieving the Presidency will now have a mandate to unwind decades of their malfeasance. They have to smash everything - fast.
He’s digging ours.
I totally forgot about that feature!
Remember the govt ate all the costs for covid treatment, and this is how they’ll recoup some.
They ate about 8 grand in costs that my BIL would have paid had it not been COVID.
Justice will come at the Great White Throne. We will be there to witness the LORD execute perfect justice and judgment. I so look forward to it. The chance for people to accept Him is rapidly running out. If you don’t believe out there folks, you have a decision to make very soon. It is either Christ or hell. There is NO middle ground. There is no fence to sit on. Him or hell. Your choice. Don’t believe in this stuff. Well, you’d better be right. You are doing so at your own peril. Like a chain smoker who sees all the evidence of what smoking does to the human body, and says, ahhhh, I don’t believe all that stuff. Okay. Your choice. But, as I said, it is Him or hell. In face your choices right now are Him or Satan’s side. Yup, that is it. Simple as that. Because if you refuse Him, you are by default choosing Satan’s side. That is what Satan wants you to do. Time is running out. The Book says so.
....nah, they wouldn't/couldn't do something that evil. /s
Also, FEMA is picking up burial and funeral costs up to $9,000 for every one who has covid listed on the death certificate as a cause or contributor to the death.
Biden called for cuts to Social Security and Medicare many times over several decades, and for him to claim otherwise is another big fat lie from the Plagiarizer-in-chief.
Medicare Advantage plans (also called Part C) have a yearly out-of-pocket maximum for Part B services. Most of these limits are lower than $3,000/year. If this drug is covered under Part B then the retiree would not suffer a huge financial loss. Chemotherapy, for example, is covered under Part B.
All bets are off, however, if the drug comes under Part D. There’s no yearly limit per se to your cost. There are four different coverage stages you have to go through before Medicare will pay most of the costs of these expensive prescription drugs. In most of the plans you have to pay at least $6,500 in a given year before costs go way down.
The brand-name drugs we see advertised constantly on TV in those glitzy commercials are all VERY expensive, thousands of dollars each month in many cases. Best to avoid them if you can.
My Medicare Advantage plan with United Health Care has been a godsend. I pay no monthly premium, there’s no deductible, and no charge for most doctor services. I had to have a CT scan, an upper GI, and a colonoscopy to find the cause of my unusual abdominal symptoms, and the total cost was $100 (the CT scan).
The prescription drug part is where you have to be careful and be a proactive patient. I got stuck with paying $700 for a designer antibiotic that did nothing to help me. There are five different tiers of drugs and I should have asked my doctor to search for a suitable generic alternative, which would have cost me $2. But otherwise, the plan has been good for me.
I just said a whole lot of bad words. The illegals get free free free everything. People who sit on their lazy arses do too. Spit.
How does that work? My only income is SS and with medicare and a supplement my insurance will be about $340 a month. Of course any day I should get notice that the supplement is also going up significantly. Just can't win.
One year my income was about $17 over the threshold, and it wound up costing us about $2400 dollars in higher medicare premiums that year. Sheesh.
