The US House committee probing the Jan. 6 Capitol riot threatened former Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows with a contempt charge unless he testified Friday morning.
“Simply put, there is no valid legal basis for Mr. Meadows’s continued resistance to the Select Committee’s subpoena,” the committee wrote to George Terwilliger, an attorney for Meadows late Thursday.
Not showing up would be considered “willful non-compliance,” the letter said, which could lead to a recommendation of a Contempt of Congress charge as well as a civil action to enforce compliance with the subpoena.
The House of Representatives has already referred former Trump aide Steve Bannon for possible prosecution for contempt.

I just read he has refused the subpoena and is claiming executive privilege!!,
Hope this is true!!!!
I wonder if the GOP has learned anything from the abuse they’re getting from Democrats?
The Republicans should make it crystal clear that when they get back in control there will be hell to pay.
But knowing Pubbies they won’t do a thing.
One of the big reasons why Dems are so vicious is because of Republican weakness. Dems neither fear or respect them.
When can we expect them to acknowledge that the January 6th conspiracy is a hoax?
My guess is *never*.
I would find it very easy to tell them I can’t come. It’s my bowling night and I need to focus during the day.
Drag it out until the GOP picks up 50+ seats and this nonsense stops.
Dems want to destroy executive Privilege for Trump——
They sure don’t want the same for Obama & Clinton & Biden......
So what?
Tell them you’re playing golf with Eric Holder and they can arrest you both.
This is a bipartisan 1/6 committee. The GOP is happy that President Trump and his supporters are being abused.
Donald Trump upset their parties, so they colluded with the Dems to get him booted.

Completely agree.
Note that the GOP never goes out of its way to defend Trump or his voters.
Trump exposed them all for their epic weakness and collusion with Democrats. For the sin of telling the truth, the GOP will do everything in its power to keep Trump from ever returning to Washington again.
The GOP is not, and never really has been, a conservative party.
That depends on how one defines "bipartisan." The GOP caucus has provided ZERO representtives. The republicans on the sham investigation are there at DEM invitation.
The existance of the committee is contrary to House rules.
On Jan. 6 Trump said to his audience, "I know that many of you are going to the Capitol to peaceably and patriotically protest..."
On Jan. 7 the NYT reported this as "TRUMP INCITES MOB".
So, like you said, "never" is the best guess.
re: “Simply put, there is no valid legal basis for Mr. Meadows’s continued resistance to the Select Committee’s subpoena,”
The committee is illegitimate; ALL the members were selected/approved by ONE party via Nazi Pelosi ...
Contempt of Congress? Does that mean him and Holder get to do a round of golf together?
Testify. Use the Hillary defense. ‘I don’t recall’.
From the party that split power when they were 50/50 in the Senate. Don’t get your hopes up.

Yep, always looking to give their advantage away. Even when they’re in control, they’re not really in control. They look for ways to let the Democrats run the show.
The GOP is always willing to cede whatever power it has. It would be hard to imagine a weaker party.
