New concept: “Driving Season”

Has that brilliant fellow, John Kerry, explained to us what will happen to the price of aviation fuel and the diesel that powers his yacht if there is no gasoline sold for cars and light trucks? Gasoline, petro products for the manufacture of platics, etc. pay much of the cost of manufacturing diesel and aviation fuel. It also helps pay for the cost of producing natural gas. Removing the income from the sale of automotive products will make the production costs for the few remaining items cost prohibitive for the ordinary citizen.

They will have to develop more efficient energy storage and sources to make such travel viable. Someone is working on it. I’m not so concerned about environmental issues, and believe the earth to be capable of sustaining/providing much more energy. Cars and trucks, though, are noisy alternatives to what is possible with nuclear and quantum physics.

We need a cradle to grave study on the costs and total environmental impact as well as complete societal risks of eliminating gasoline powered cars/vehicles and replacing with those powered by rechargeable lithium batteries. We need a complete study of the pros and cons of all aspects instead of listening to fools like Joe Biden or John Kerry that only know politics, not facts.

Energy based on diversified fossil fuel independence from pipelines is completely different from electricity from a non backed up grid susceptible to many other risks.

"Hard to tell. The transition may be painful, but new discoveries may in the end make personal transportation more pleasant, safe, economical, and free. We’ve ridden on axles and rubber tires for over 100 years. Mass public transit would do itself a favor if it offered some well-tailored privacy."

The naïveté is astounding.

“I’ve read they plan to conserve petroleum fuels for the military.”

They want it for when they occupy the US and have to deal with electric Abram tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles, etc.

Here are the six

Ford
General Motors
Mercedes-Benz
Volvo
Jaguar Land Rover
Chinese automaker BYD

all signed, as did two dozen fleet operators including Uber.

Don’t buy any of their crap starting right now. Make their dreams come true!
They don't have anything to buy.

But brilliant idea nonetheless.

Well if they can make a battery that charges fully in say five minutes and then be able to drive four or five hundred miles, in the winter with the heater blasting away or summer with the A/C on high, then it might be okay.

If'n I live to 2040, I'll be 78 years old. Unlikely I'll make it that long (genetic condition) so I guess, what do I care?

'Cept I have two sons and knowing what's coming for them doesn't exactly set well with me.

When do we stop this insanity and take our country back from these insane libtards?! I'm getting too old to fight. I may have one good one left in me and I can see that slipping away.

“I can drive from iowa to Colorado and stop twice for gas.
A trip like that would be impossible with an electric car”

A Tesla S can make stopping once to ‘refuel’.

Can you imagine the size of battery needed for something like an Abrams tank (1500hp - 275 mile range)?

And their existence will also end. Sell your stocks. We’ll see what they say in 2038-39. Otherwise great entrepreneurial opportunities!

Get your enemy to transition to electric vehicles, take out the electric grid and wait for the white flag. Simple and not a shot fired.

how are they planning on charging all those batteries?

You will need to prove your obedience to the state to charge your batteries at government approved charging stations.

The plan is getting kinda obvious.
