The Atlantic, a left-liberal publication that has become a clearinghouse for anti-Republican commentary, published an essay in which it expressed skepticism that a blue-collar truck driver like Edward Durr could perform the duties of his elected office.
Last week, Durr shocked the political world by defeating incumbent New Jersey State Senate President Steve Sweeney, one of the most powerful Democrats in the state and the longest-serving legislative leader in its history.
The essay in The Atlantic, by Tom Nichols, titled “Populism Always Sounds Great in the Abstract,” mocks Durr: “A New Jersey truck driver defeated the state Senate president, but politics needs people who know what they’re doing.”
Nichols said Durr represented a dangerous populism rejected by America’s Founders, and compared him to a “Philistine”...

Somebody’s butt hurt.
re: “The Atlantic Sneers at Truck Driver Edward Durr’s Ability to Govern”
NOW do Joe Brandon - I mean Biden ... (to wit: “The Atlantic Sneers at pedo-grifter Joe Biden’s Ability to Govern”)
His handle on The Twittsewer is @RadioFreeTom.
I call him FactFreeTom.
Airhead Of Congress, AOC. ‘nuff said.
I agree. No more communists.
YOU WIN post of the day.
Then there are AOC, Biden, & Ms. Kamala. Durr can speak in coherent sentences, unlike Biden. Durr knows where he is at and doesn’t get lost, unlike Biden. Durr doesn’t hate his country, unlike Biden.
I can't think of a better one either, but imagine the slobbering press if Trump was a Democrat. Trump's a guy, who had never run for office at any level, but was elected President of the United States.
There would be one after another and another supermarket checkout books; there would be movies; there would be primetime specials from all of the major networks; big media would publish special editions; and every leftwing author would publish one or more books.
And then there's Trump's beautiful model wife ...
If he can read and write at an 8th grade level and is not sexually abusing underage boys, I would suspect he will be doing a better job than the incumbent.
Well he won’t be governing, just legislating.
Riiight. Just like Journalism needs people who know what they are SUPPOSED to do.
Owned by Mrs. Jobs.
Because things are running so well in the hands of career politicians who “know what they are doing”.
You will receive no argument from this corner.
Back in the late 70’s and early 80’s I subscribed to the Atlantic. Back then there seemed to be a rational discussion of policy alternatives constrained by the amount of tax revenue the government could collect. Now there are no such constraints. There are huge issues now such as open borders, unlimited welfare, covid tyranny, inflation, a plugged port system, energy shotages, a broken justice system. There is no way you could make a rational argument for the current policies. The Atlantic might as well be USA Today.
“I am obliged to confess that I should sooner live in a society governed by the first two thousand names in the Boston telephone directory than in a society governed by the two thousand faculty members of Harvard University. Not, heaven knows, because I hold lightly the brainpower or knowledge or generosity or even the affability of the Harvard faculty: but because I greatly fear intellectual arrogance, and that is a distinguishing characteristic of the university which refuses to accept any common premise.”
William F. Buckley
IIRC he was once associated with The Alantic.
The Atlantic should be sneering at Steve Sweeney’s contempt for his constituents that got him kicked out of office.
He said Boston phone book. Same idea, though!
