The Santa Fe district attorney investigating the fatal "Rust" shooting has shut down allegations of "sabotage."
DA Mary Carmack-Altwies said authorities don't have "any proof" to back up what she called "conspiracy theories."
Lawyers for the film's armorer claimed without evidence that someone may have tried to "sabotage" the set by putting a live round in a box of dummy rounds.
The Santa Fe district attorney investigating the fatal shooting on the set of Alec Baldwin's latest movie "Rust" has shut down the "sabotage" allegations floated by attorneys for the film's armorer.
"I know that some defense attorneys have come up with conspiracy theories and have used the word 'sabotage,'" Santa Fe County District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said during an interview that aired on ABC News' "Good Morning America" Wednesday, adding, "We do not have any proof."
When asked by reporter Kaylee Hartung if she believed "sabotage" was at all a possibility, Carmack-Altwies responded, "No."
Without providing any evidence, lawyers for the movie's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, claimed last week that someone may have put a live bullet into a box of "dummy" rounds on the New Mexico film set to "sabotage" the production.

It seems whenever the term "No evidence" is used it is too shut down further investigation (e.g., no evidence of voter fraud). Instead of saying forensics has thoroughly investigated the weapon, ammunition, ammunition storage, and video and found no anomalies to support sabotage suspicions.
Cool. Now CHARGE somebody already.
Put the creep Baldwin on trial. The man has a history of reckless, violent behavior.
If the scene called for the gun to placed against his own head and the trigger pulled, does anyone not believe that he would have checked and double checked that the gun was safe?!!

That said, I expect stupidity and negligence.
I totally agree with you. So many people who know nothing of firearm safety rules may call what happened an accidental discharge. There are very few accidental discharges. This was clearly a negligent discharge of the firearm or a negligent homicide.
I also believe that union sabotage may have been a factor, but it would still not remove any of the negligence. Always treat any firearm as loaded, until you have personally verified otherwise. Never hand a loaded firearm to someone else, open the action and prove to them it is unloaded prior to handing it to them. It doesn’t matter if you are crossing a fence or working on a movie set.
Anyone who accepts control of a firearm is responsible for the safe handling of the weapon.
No matter what was happening, negligence was rampant in the shooting death on that movie.
I can’t help but read the DA’s statements through the lens of trying to let Baldwin off of the hook.
If the armorer was negligent, so be it. But her guilt won’t diminish Baldwin’s appalling lack of due regard for his co-workers (and employee’s) safety.
Baldwin the self styled wanna be gunslinger owned the weapon when he took it. He should have checked it. He shouldn’t have point it at anyone. He cocked the hammer and pulled the trigger for that they should fry his ass.
It sounds like 4 maybe 5 folks need thrown in jail for reckless endangerment and involuntary manslaughter.

At the very least Barwin committed a negligent homicide.
Where did you see that she "lied to cops"?
she said there were no live rounds on set yet the night prior she was firing that gun with live rounds with some of the crew, and also cops found approx 500 live rounds on set
Where did you read that she was firing that gun with live rounds with some of the crew? I read that was a rumor and it has been denied as being true.
Apparently the DA said in a november 10th interview says she knows who loaded the gun.
