China is three to six months from launching its third and most modern aircraft carrier, new analysis shows, in what would be a milestone for President Xi Jinping’s effort to project power into the high seas.
The Jiangnan Shipyard near Shanghai has made “steady progress” this year on the vessel, known for now as Type 003, the Center for Strategic and International Studies said in the report dated Tuesday. The center, a Washington-based think tank, added that satellite imagery shows “that the installation of the carrier’s main external components is nearing completion.”

New carrier to be named Bo Ti Mao Bo Face.
That vessel needs a good sinking ...
How much of that is made from either stolen or given-away American technology?
The U.S. military is no threat to China and they know it. U.S. military is more concerned with protecting trans rights and purging its ranks of “White Terrorist” than they are about preparing for possible war.
The design of that deck looks mighty racist to me. It is clearly designed to separate the crew and keep the “undesirables” on one side of the ship.
If I were our Navy, I would sink it immediately with a strongly worded letter followed by a BLM protest and the some shaming from MSNBC. I mean what, was that thing built by a bunch of white supremacist insurrectionists who escaped their January 6th crime by running to China. What’s next?!?! Are they going to name it the Kung Pao Trump?
Those Chicoms really stepped in it now.
Where do they hook the sails?
If they used Chinese steel it will sink soon enough

And how much of it was financed by money made from selling us cheap junk?
The ship is just conveyance. It’ll take a decade for them to have an efficient carrier force. And they’ll be going thru dead pilots for several years as well. Just my $.02.

The old Soviet Union was not known for quality control when it came to producing consumer goods. But they were more careful when it came to producing military hardware. I wonder if the ChiComs are the same.
What I am not seeing is the information of battle groups? Aircraft carriers need support ships. The type 003 doesn’t look nuclear, so it will need an oiler, several destroyer escorts, plus guided missiles cruisers, and a nuke attack sub for each battle group.
Until these are put together, I’m not sweating it much. Furthermore, a battle hardened and well trained crew with reliable aircraft and pilots are years in the future.
Correct. An aircraft carrier is not a vessel. An aircraft carrier is a set of advanced (AND PRACTICED) skills.
Just FYI, that’s not a pic of the new Type 003 carrier. The new carriers have catapult launch capability thus the Type 003 carrier does not have the takeoff ramp like the one in the picture.
That was the pic at the link..........................
Well they have lots of lifeboats attached ,LOL
Yes, and they got it wrong. Go search for type 003 carrier in Google and the pics of the real 003 will come up. The type 003 looks very similar to our Nimitz class but with slightly different catapult angles.
The most dangerous job in the world: Landing deck crew on a Chinese aircraft carrier.
With the available pics it’s hard to say whether it has a bow ramp or not. It does claim to have catapults, which makes sense, but claims they are electromagnetic rather than steam powered. The USS Ford is still having issues with the new EM cats, so I would imagine that unless the Chinese have our blueprints, they’ll take years to get right.
