White House says DOJ will determine amount of payouts to migrant families
NY Post ^

senior White House adviser said the Justice Department will set the amount of compensation if it deems that paying migrants separated from their families will save taxpayers money — payments that run as much as $450,000 or more.

“If the DOJ determines that it saves the taxpayers money and it rights a wrong, then they will make the determination that is necessary and I would assume if they make a determination, they’ll come up with what they think is an adequate dollar amount,” Cedric Richmond said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Richmond said the Justice Department is making its decision independently of the White House.

“But again, the question is, we took children. President Trump took children from their parents, and some children have never been returned. Do we think that’s OK?” he asked

How does the DOJ get to make a decision on monetary matters?
Isn’t this in the pervue of Congress?

I know the entire government is ignoring laws it wrote, but how does the DOJ merit this deicsion?

Maybe I am wrong here, but isn’t this a matter for the courts? Since when does the DOJ award damages?

Pay them nothing. They should not benefit from breaking the law.

Wow. So we went from “this isn’t happening” per Brandon to “I wasn’t aware of this” to “we’re looking at the numbers” to “the DOJ is handling this.”

I know high school student councils that run better than this administration.

I’m guessing they will award migrants $$$$ maybe even the coveted $450k, but it will be not public knowledge so therefore, no migrants are paid, but “someone” will be stealing that money to the tune of $450k per person. Dems pockets... 10% to the big guy etc.

That’s nice. That means I can forgo the donations to those charities who weekly demand more and more money. Anyone notice that they want set amounts in their letters?

They are not migrants, THEY ARE ILLEGAL INVADERS. The term migrants is incorrect and grants them a legitimacy they do not deserve.

Most of these CHILDREN were 16-20. Check their molars. There were only about 500 little kids and that was over a period of time. They were in a special place with some schooling, good hygiene etc etc.

They were in 'FENCED AREAS' to protect them.

If they do this.... give our taxpayer money to those who initiated this by their illegal actions, it will be one more issue that will lead to the catastrophe the Dems will suffer in November of ‘22. Every R and nearly every Independent will understand even more fully what the Democrats are doing. Using money confiscated from honest, tax paying, hard-working citizens to enrichen those who do not respect our country and our laws (but then Biden et al don’t respect nor enforce our laws) in exchange for their voted. Do not for a minute think they won’t figure out how to give them voting rights and likely full citizenship as well.

So if/when they start paying them to illegally cross our borders, charge them for the full expense they place upon our school systems (this amounts to another Tax on our citizens), hospitals, legal system, social systems.
Can anyone find one other country that allows for massive abuse of their borders while providing without consequences such services to illegal entrants?

“will save taxpayers money”

Fighting the law suit and proving illegal aliens deserve nothing will save taxpayers money. They have no claim

Saying that payouts will save money is laughable. Like they’re doing us a favor handing out billions to child traffickers.

The DOJ isn’t answering any questions even though the WH liars keep referring questions to them. Transparent as sludge in the swamp.

The “wrong” was them coming over in the first place. That is illegal. This idea of paying them is crazy.

This is the Obama playbook.

Advocacy groups sue.

Taxpayer dollars spent to payoff said groups and a few crumbs for the plaintiffs.

Advocacy groups help Democrats get elected.

Rinse and repeat.
