How people talk about political issues in America has declined in the post-WW II era. Journalist Edward R. Murrow said that Winston Churchill “mobilized the English language and sent it into battle” in WWII with his memorable speeches in Parliament and broadcasts to the English people when England stood alone against the Nazi onslaught.
The only comparable figure in American politics since 1945 has been Ronald Reagan. He changed how people thought of the Cold War when he stood in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin in April 1987 and said, “General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization, come here to this gate. Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”
In 2021 we find ourselves in a domestic Cold War for the future of constitutional government in the United States. Our opponents espouse American Marxism, to borrow from Mark Levin’s new book of that name. In the past 100 years “progressive” (i.e. left-wing) political philosophy has marched through our political and cultural institutions. Part of that effort has been to control the language and distort it for political purposes (e.g. “politically incorrect” words).
The following are some examples of corruption of the English language in recent years.
1. Democracy and Republic. Too many people refer to the American system of government as a “democracy.” The Founders wrote our Constitution very purposely to establish a constitutional republic. They knew their history and knew that the democracy of ancient Athens often descended into a mob rule. Centuries later the Roman republic deteriorated into an oligarchy with several strongmen at the top. Finally, the Caesars turned the republic into an empire.

Good article.
Lots more, too: There’s a world of difference between “immigrant” and “illegal alien” for example, although first term is often used as a synonym for the second.
Back to when homos were queers and gay meant happy?
I prefer...
border invader
trespasser
uninvited guest (oh - wait)
party crasher (doesn’t do justice)
and last, but not least...
Future Democratic voter.
What I want to know is why gay people have to wear clothing with the rainbow colors to announce to the rest of us that they are gay. The rainbow was a Christian symbol of God’s promise not to flood the earth again. Now it’s been ruined by gays. They are very good at changing the meanings of words. Or definitions.
Uh, and Donald J. Trump!
Sheesh!

Almost as bad as you helping to bastardize the word “Gay” three times in your reply.
“ They are very good at changing the meanings of words. Or definitions.”
“Those who control language control minds.” Rand.

So?
Every like-minded group of people tend to have their own subset of slang.
What baffles me is why straight folks feel OBLIGATED to go along with their use of words.
Why are so many afraid to use the words faggot and queer any more?
Are we that worried about being called HATEFUL?
I just don't care anymore.
Being polite has not cut it so I just speak the truth bluntly.
Sodomites are disgusting.
Sex is binary.
Illegal aliens are invaders.
And leave my employees alone. Or I will throw you out so hard you will bounce. That last is addressed to The Society for the Protection of Rapist and Pedophiles also known as the teachers union.
I mean it.
And do you use the “n” word in your posts on threads regarding blacks?

Your “aha moment” fails miserably.
Not that it has one damn thing to do with my reply to you but the answer is no and neither do I capitalize the word “black” when it’s used as an adjective.
You are very angry for some reason. You come across as judgmental of my original post and jump on me for using the word gay after questioning the use of it. I think you need to be less triggered by it. And guess what? I don’t capitalize the “b” in black when I post. I was trying to ask you if you actually spell out the whole “n” word when you post. I guess that wasn’t understood.
