There are now more registered Republican voters than Democrats in Florida for the first time in the Sunshine State's history.
"When I got elected governor we had 280,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans in the state of Florida," Gov. Ron DeSantis told a crowd at the National Conference of State Legislatures on Friday. "Today, and it will probably be fully publicized very soon, for the first time in the history of Florida we have overtaken Democrats. There are more registered Republicans in Florida than Democrats."

Glory hallelujah! When I was a teenager, and voting for the first time, I had to register as a Democrat, otherwise there was no one to vote for in the primaries. No one.
I was a conservative Democrat, but there were no Republicans running for office.
I don’t know if this was an anomaly or not, but that was my experience.

Florida has had a remarkable rightward trend, even with the explosive population growth it has experienced.
There is a couple of ways to calculate PVI, but under any measure, Florida is moving right.
It is now nearly 8 points more Republican than the nation as a whole. (Which means in a dead even turnout year nationwide, Florida would give an 8 point win to a generic Republican.)
Florida is now redder than Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina and is just behind Iowa and Texas.

It was that way in Oklahoma, too. Now every single county voted Trump.
Wow. Times have changed in FL from 2000—what an election year that was. It was down to 300 votes at one point. . .
In Boca Raton where my mom lives and in Miami where many friends live everyone wears masks indoors.
I was born and raised in Florida and it was the same for my parents. They were registered Democrats only because the Republicans stood zero chance at any elective office in Florida in those days. Of course Southern Democrats were more conservative than Northeastern Republicans. They voted Republican in all national elections.
It means something.
It means DeSantis is a force.
As it turns out, it has turned Florida red.
If somebody chooses to wear a mask, they are a sheep who is not fit to be part of humanity.
