Southwest Airlines will conduct an internal investigation into a pilot who was captured on video saying “Let’s go Brandon” over the flight’s intercom, the airline said in a statement.
“Southwest does not condone Employees sharing their personal political opinions while on the job serving our Customers, and one Employee’s individual perspective should not be interpreted as the viewpoint of Southwest and its collective 54,000 Employees,” the airline said in a statement Sunday.
The phrase is a tongue-in-cheek reference to a “F–k Joe Biden” chant that erupted at a NASCAR race in Talladega earlier this year.
The chant at the NASCAR race was misheard by a reporter as “Let’s go Brandon” and the phrase has since been repeated by ardent Biden critics.
The pilot’s quip was caught toward the end of a flight from Houston to Albuquerque.
The airline will be internally investigating the incident and those involved, it said Sunday.
“Southwest is conducting an internal investigation into the recently reported event and will address the situation directly with any Employee involved while continuing to remind all Employees that public expression of personal opinions while on duty is unacceptable.
“Southwest does not tolerate any behavior that encouraged divisiveness, as it does not reflect the Southwest Hospitality and inclusiveness for which we are known and strive to provide each day on every flight.”
Southwest canceled thousands of flights earlier this month, which many believe to be caused by the airline’s pilots protesting President Biden’s impending COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all federal contractors.

Southwest was fun a few years back. Their pilots would explain rough landings by saying on the intercom: “That wasn’t our fault. It was the asphalt”.
But if it was a pro-Biden announcement ....??
Yep, even many Democrats who regret voting for Xiden are saying it.
Tell you what: Southwest Airlines does anything to the pilot and they've lost me as a frequent flyer. I'll find another airline and IDGAF that I've flown Southwest almost exclusively for the last 12 years. They can KMA if they take any action against the pilot/crew member that said it.

The chant was misquoted by Kelly Stavast. She knew what it meant.

Ridiculous. I’ve been on a lot of SWA flights over the years. The cabin crew routinely go off script with jokes such as “the smoking section is located out on the wing”. I think some of their planes (or maybe it was another airline I forget) even made a humorous safety video.
They get the job done. I am not really a great fan of flying SWA but sometimes it’s just too convenient and economical to pass up. They are very efficient at the airports they can be efficient, turning those planes around in 30-40 minutes tops. And they only fly 737s so they have a well trained crew, maintenance staff, and pilots who know the equipment and can basically work on any plane or any route at any time. That 737-Max was a disaster but not SWA’s fault.
Ooooh, it’s been elevated to “an incident.”

When my Dad was flying B-52’s into Vietnam, the Base Commander on Guam visited the Bachelor Officer’s Quarters one night, and witnessed a drunk B-52 pilot pissing off the top balcony. The Base Commander complained to the Wing Commander, and demanded that the offending pilot be sent home. The Wing Commander replied, “If you send that guy home for pissing off the balcony, the next time you visit the BOQ, you’d better bring an umbrella.”
All the pilots need to start saying it.
