The mother of a young man shot dead by a retired Oakland police captain said her son was wrong to rob the man, but questions whether use of deadly force was necessary.

I can understand where she is coming from. It could worry a mother gray haired. Knowing that each time her sons left home to engage in their trade of robbing, raping, stealing, and killing they in turn could be killed. Not to think about the income she would be subject to losing. As they bring home to half of what they get from robbing and stealing. And by now she has found a sire and will replace the two she lost with triplets. It is a cruel World.

I was going to post this too and had the same thought. Her son commits an armed robbery and she claims deadly force was excessive? What should the former cop have done. - just give up his wallet and risk being murdered himself?
Sorry for her loss but it was entirely avoidable if she had done some parenting.
