While more studies with larger numbers of participants are needed to say for sure, there does seem to be a connection between coronavirus (COVID-19) infection and tinnitus.
One study found that 23.2% of individuals experienced tinnitus after their COVID-19 diagnosis, most commonly described as recurrent or occasional. It was suggested that this may be due to inflammation of the blood vessels supplying the inner ear. Another study found that 40% of individuals with preexisting tinnitus felt that their tinnitus was exacerbated after experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. It was suggested that the lifestyle changes brought on by COVID-19 illness—quieter environments, social isolation, depression, and anxiety—may be more to blame than the COVID-19 infection itself.
As of right now, no studies have found new or exacerbated tinnitus to be a significant side effect of any COVID-19 vaccines. One study reported that about one in 14,700 people reported tinnitus after vaccination. These individuals had other risk factors that are associated with tinnitus such as hypertension, diabetes, and anxiety. It was suggested that their tinnitus was likely due to one of these conditions, vaccine anxiety, and/or another unrelated event. It should be noted that some of these studies are small and more information is needed as new vaccines and boosters are released.
While there are still many questions about the tinnitus/COVID connection, no one should have to suffer in silence with their tinnitus. The good news is that no matter the cause, many effective treatment options are available, and the Eckelmann-Taylor Speech and Hearing Clinic’s specialized Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Clinic can help!
I suspect that we will get media reports of these weaker side effects until one day we learn that it might start killing us.
The proper link to the hearing clinic mentioned in the article.
WHAT??
Red Badger posted this story back in September about a possible link between the vaccine and tinnitus. Good article.
I developed tinnitus a few days after the jab.
Needless to say I will not be getting a booster. (Got Ivermectin just in case.)
That’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
It’s the intended ‘Harrison Bergeron” effect.
I’ve had tinnitus in one ear for several years, it comes and goes, and it’s not a severe case at all. Lately, I’ve been getting raging tinnitus racket in my ear at night when I’m getting ready to sleep. I was wondering what was causing it . . .
Diana Moon Glampers...strikes again and again....
I have tinnitus from the military, but for the last several months (after the jab) it’s been a lot worse.
Weird, I get the jab and bam appendicitis, and now tinnitus, that more than enough “itis” for me.
Same here but havent gotten the jab as I have antibodies and T Cells from a real bad case of it the beginning of the year.
My Dad and my brother both came down with a real bad case of vertigo a couple of months after getting the shot and it turns out both have BPPV, which happens when tiny crystals of calcium carbonate in one part of your inner ear become dislodged and float into another part. Not sure if it's a coincidence or not but certainly ear related and another reason why I'm not getting it.
I developed tinnitus after being immunized (Moderna). I can’t say if the two things are related but it sure seems as though there are lots of people with lots of side effects from these vaccines. I don’t blame the police/fire/ems employees for not surrendering their sovereignty by refusing the jab.
A coworker got the Johnson and Johnson shot back in May.
Starting on day three after the shot he said it felt like there was a cotton ball inside his head by his right ear every morning when he woke up. He could hear and feel fluid behind his ear drum and he estimated his hearing was reduced by about 75% in that ear during the worst of it.
The problem would reduce somewhat as the day wore on and be back the next morning. No pain other than an occasional twinge from the pressure, just a very annoying feeling of fullness, and trouble hearing. It was worst for about two weeks and then gradually lessened over a couple more weeks until it went away.
Nothing he tried helped, and it was driving him so nutty that he considered buying a round-trip ticket for the short flight to Chicago to see if the altitude and pressure changes of the flight would make his ear ‘pop’ and clear it up.
He said he’s had plugged ears before for no apparent reason but never to nearly that degree or duration. The problem ear was on the same side of his body as the arm the needle went in.
It wasn’t tinnitus, but it was really annoying for him.
Take it from a Meniere’s patient who has had both loud ringing and Tinnitus since my mid 20’s you don’t want it. It can drown out your hearing.
if you havent checked your ANA after the shot you might want to do so. Same symptom - different shot- positive ANA.
This happened to family member. Got 2nd maderna vax back in March. Never had tinnitus before and tt started a few days later and still has it.
With this hearing test you will learn at which frequency your tinnitus noise is ringing. Then we will be in a position to offer you a sound therapy specifically custom-made for the noise in your ear.
Are u going to get a booster?
The truth probably is the vax is clogging up the tiny blood vessels in the body and the ear is the first to hear about it. They say the brain starts going next.
I am experiencing this after my covid shot ... but I also experienced it for 30 years before I took the shot, does that count using their logic?
