WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate confirmed two prominent anti-Trump Republicans to serve in the Biden administration on Tuesday with former Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona approved to serve as the ambassador to Turkey and Cindy McCain, the wife of the late Sen. John McCain, approved to serve as the ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture.
The Senate also voted to confirm former Democratic Sen. Tom Udall of New Mexico to serve as ambassador to New Zealand and Victoria Reggie Kennedy of Massachusetts, the widow of former Sen. Ted Kennedy, to serve as ambassador to Austria.
The nominations were approved through voice vote, a process taking only minutes that can be used so long as no senators object. Republicans, led by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, are requiring the vast majority of Biden’s other State Department nominees to go through a much more extensive and time-consuming process.

Also, while EVERY Trump nominee had to go through the cloture process, the republican senators were more than happy to accommodate the democrats by not objecting and forcing cloture votes.

Jeff Flake is a Turkey....But what the hell does Cindy know about Agriculture... I suppose she shopped for bananas once.
I guess when you are a RINO, you don’t look too closely at the gift/grift-while Jeff Flake as ambassador to Turkey is obviously a payoff-Turkey doesn’t appear to be a coveted destination/ healthy place for Americans now or in the foreseeable future-I hope the Flake lives in fear for his safety and has nightmares every day he is there.
Cindy McCain was a trophy wife-I’ve never heard that she knows anything about agriculture and has likely never prepared a meal-so her knowledge of food and agriculture is probably limited to the potted plants on her patio and the menu of her favorite restaurants-so this is obviously an ideal job for her...

They will continue to give the same consideration to Biden nominees, just as they did to Clinton and Obama nominees, if they capture a Senate majority in the 2022 elections. For Senate Republicans comity in the club is far more important than ideology, their voters, or the future of the nation.
Democrats feel no such obligation.
