School boards the country over are becoming increasingly terrified of parents demanding accountability from their local education system and its elected officials – and one Minnesota school board is tripping over its own feet trying to fight back.
Video posted to social media shows Jodi Sapp, a school board member at Mankato Area Public Schools, instructing all members of the public wishing to speak at a recent school board business meeting that they must state their name and their entire home address before being allowed to comment.
Before we go on, an important reminder: this is a school board meeting, paid for by taxpayers, in a school district funded by taxpayers, to oversee schools filled with children of local residents. All of which supports the notion that the district should adhere to the desires of the parents, and that the taxpayer-paid school board members who are elected by said residents serve their citizens, and not the other way around.
The first speaker, a man, understandably states that he’s uncomfortable giving his home address “for the record,” saying he’s concerned about retribution from “fun people” who might not agree with what he has to say.
On top of that, Sapp goes on to state that commenters will be banned from “calling out” specific board members or school administrators or faculty by name – even after demanding that all resident speakers not only give their names, but state exactly where they live down to the house number.

Give the board member’s address when they ask.
Is this unusual?
Or make every board member give their address before they speak.
Invite each Board member to do the same,
Give the board members an address in their neighborhood.
Note eye brows lift
No problem...
I live at ### AnyStreet in [municipal] location.
I also certify that I am a firearm owner who posseses both handguns and long-guns.
Madame chair, I have some comments and questions.
Sorry, Jodi, but the taxpayers are YOUR bosses, and you don’t get to write the rules.
Their tails are on fire & they are running scared.
THEY caused all of this uproar.
There’s an idea.
Making anyone who disagrees dox themselves for retaliation. How Soviet of them.
Each one who does that should next state the home address of one of the school board members.
“...board members who are elected by said residents serve their citizens, and not the other way around...”
True... and THAT said, these are the same Liberal parents who who PUT those board members on that board.
Exactly.
In my experience you have to state your CITY...not actual address...
Intimidation and they’re not trying to hide it.
Doxxing raised to an art form....
Giving the home address of the most obnoxious member of the School board as your own would raise their hackles, and once it is public record, harder to erase.
“That’s MY home address!”
“You said, give a home address, just helping out.”
Are people who do not live in the district showing up to speak at meetings?
My name is John Galt or, how about, my name is Paul Kersey. Some fictitious address.
