Delta Air Lines is testing new biometric technology that promises to speed you through the airport — or at the very least prevent you from repeatedly fumbling for your ID and boarding pass.
The new technology will roll out in Atlanta and Detroit as soon as Nov. 3.
It is only open to Delta SkyMiles members who have U.S. passports and are eligible for TSA PreCheck. They must first store their passport number in the Fly Delta app, and this new service is only open to those checking in via the app.
The biometric information is pulled from a U.S. Customs and Border Protection database of passport photos — hence the need for an American passport....

By “biometric” they mean facial recognition?
Not a fan - just more ways for them to track you in this dystopian nightmare we find ourselves in.
Isn’t it enough that I can just store the boarding pass on my phone via the SAME DELTA APP?!

An FBO (private airport operator) kept trying to force private pilots and passengers to go though its biometrics deal.
I just led my family directly to the hanger and took off (with tower permission).
Got a sternly worded email saying that was against their policy, so I promptly assured them I would either sue them or they needed to let me out of my lease and let me move my planes.
They let me move my planes.

Sorry, but I don't quite understand how that addresses my (albeit mild) complaint about people who "have no dog in the fight" nonetheless chiming in and boastfully and unnecessarily announcing that they "have no dog in the fight."
To me, this reflects a self-centered, smug, preening "I'm alright, Jack" attitude. It's unhelpful to the person with the problem, and it contributes nothing to the discussion.

When I hear people say that, I’m reminded of the famous words of a certain Lutheran pastor in Germany named Martin Niemöller. He is best known as the author of “First they came for the socialists...”
Everyone has a dog in this fight. I can’t afford to fly but see this as the beginnings of acceptance to this privacy invading tech. We don’t get a cell signal at home or in most places here in hill country. I don’t need a cell phone but it seems like I may be forced to get one someday for some necessary app that works as a high tech ID.
Skynet is now active.
I’m only flying AMF airlines.
