Crew members on the set of "Rust" used guns with live ammunition and engaged in a pastime called "plinking" hours before Halyna Hutchins was killed, founder and CEO of The Wrap, Sharon Waxman, told CNN's Don Lemon Monday night, citing information from an individual with knowledge of the set.

LOL, then they participated in something paganlike called beer "guzzling" and girl "worship".
Within the first few hours, I created the same scenario in my mind. High probability of actions leading to a needless death. Good job painting a picture in other’s minds.
The young armorer won’t work again.
Set guns should be going in a gun safe at the end of the day, not out to target practice.
Involuntary manslaughter seems to fill the bill. I would apply it to all three - Baldwin, the assistant director, and the armorer.
Most actors don’t know how to handle firearms, period. They have to be shown which end the hurt comes out of, how to hold it, how to point it, and what bits not to touch, how to avoid slide bite, how to not get hit in the face by the slide, etc. Alec Baldwin probably falls in this category. Remember the funny sideways ghetto aim? That was the prop manager or armorer showing the actor how to handle the pistol without throwing a casing across the stage. Then the actor thought that looked cool and used it. Then the gangbangers emulated them...
So actors really are that stupid. But there is no excuse for the armorer or the assistant director. Checking a revolver is as easy as turning it on its side and looking at the gap.
I’d like to see all three of them in jail. But that doesn’t bring back the lovely camera woman.
There’s a fair chance that they were drinking beer, as well.
I’m not sure if true still checking but I read that the plot for the MOvie Rust was an accidental shooting.
The film’s plot follows a 13-year-old orphan who goes on the run with his long-estranged grandfather (Alec Baldwin) after he is sentenced to death for the accidental killing of a local rancher, according to the film’s official page on IMDb. “Rust” was written and directed by the filmmaker Joel So
Alcohol and firearms have been boon companions for a long time.
Not true. “Prop” is short for “property.” It doesn’t mean they won’t fire live ammunition. Many fake guns are used in film because they’re cheap, and may not get much scrutiny in the movie. Guns. Wow le of live fire should require a stringent chain of custody and a competent, professional armorer and crew. That’s where it broke down.
and this would be because they don’t have any guns of their own???
Yeah, I know. Lots of potentially tragic alcohol related firearm discharges become humorous with time.
I am pretty sure the discovery of gunpowder involved a little alcohol (as well as an attempt to compound a medicine...).
Probably more fun to fire $2000 replicas of 19th century weapons.
His assistant director handed him the revolver and told him it was ‘cold’ i.e. unloaded. The he did what the script told him to.
Didn’t check the firearm? He’s an actor! What does he know about firearms? They hand him a prop, then he does what the script requires.
And yeah, you or I would hang, but that will likely get Baldwin off.
I.e., ATF!
i’m guessing they are ALL liburls and not only don’t own any, but vote for every gun law they can!
If it doesn’t kill you, it might eventually make you laugh.
Alec Baldwin is also a producer on the film. That means he’s responsible for safety on the set. And you are wrong, the last to handle a weapon is supposed to ‘again’ check the chamber and make sure the weapon is empty. Plus other industry measures call for dry firing the weapon after checking the chamber. If Baldwin had done this we would not be having this conversation. And yes ultimate responsibility falls directly on Baldwin’s shoulders. He is at fault.
I guess I’m giving him more slack than he deserves.
That’s natural black pilling on my part. I want to see Baldwin get his just desserts, but I can’t get my hopes up.
In years past, big city folk wouldn't have had to have the word plinking explained to them...
