His assistant director handed him the revolver and told him it was ‘cold’ i.e. unloaded. The he did what the script told him to.
Didn’t check the firearm? He’s an actor! What does he know about firearms? They hand him a prop, then he does what the script requires.
And yeah, you or I would hang, but that will likely get Baldwin off.
Alec Baldwin is also a producer on the film. That means he’s responsible for safety on the set. And you are wrong, the last to handle a weapon is supposed to ‘again’ check the chamber and make sure the weapon is empty. Plus other industry measures call for dry firing the weapon after checking the chamber. If Baldwin had done this we would not be having this conversation. And yes ultimate responsibility falls directly on Baldwin’s shoulders. He is at fault.
Problem with that statement is that they weren’t filming and were on a break in the work.
Baldwin was sitting on a chair when the director told them they would have to re-shoot a scene again.
He was fooling around (WITH A DEADLY WEAPON) when he pointed it at her and said maybe I should just shoot you, then pulled the trigger
