Somali migrant Abdi Fitah's bid to cross into Poland from Belarus ended with him barefoot and freezing after he lost his shoes in a river and wandered for days in the woods along the border.
The 23-year-old is one of thousands of people, including children, from the Middle East, Africa and Afghanistan who have tried to enter Poland from Belarus in recent weeks, with charities saying they face harrowing conditions on the border.
Jakub Sieczko, a medical doctor and coordinator of the Medycy na Granicy (Medics on the Border) aid group, said he feared there would be more deaths as temperatures drop.
...Ibrahim, who said he left Somalia 15 days ago, thought he was having a heart attack while walking through the woods with a group of fellow migrants, before receiving medical help for hypothermia at the border.
"The conditions are very cold, (we're) not wearing shoes," he said, explaining how he lost his shoes in the river. "The leg is a big problem. I'm not wearing (enough) clothes...(or) shoes."
The European Union accuses Belarus of orchestrating the flow to put pressure on the bloc in retaliation for sanctions slapped on Minsk over human rights abuses.

On 14 October, the Polish Parliament adopted an amendment on the law of foreigners and the law on international protection. Under the amendments, a person who enters or attempts to enter the country “in breach of the law”, must leave Polish territory and is banned from entering the country for 6 months to 3 years. Applicants appealing the decision cannot stay in Poland pending a ruling.
Under the amendment, asylum applications submitted by a person detained for irregular entry, can be suspended/not examined. The only exception is a foreigner who entered directly from a country where their life would be at risk. This does not apply to the group of Afghans who travelled via Belarus.
What’s uncertain? It seems very clear to me. They can’t go to poland and must go somewhere else.
Who told those retards they would be welcome in Poland? Maybe read a history book or two. Good for the Poles for keeping the morons out. They will only damage that country and harm their women.

Poland actually does have a lot of immigrants from Ukraine.
These people really want to get to Germany, Sweden, or another EU country welcoming them better, but need to get through Poland or Hungary first. Under EU law, a person claiming political asylum needs to make that claim in the first country they enter. The point here is that these people weren’t facing political prosecution in Belarus, so no need to enter Poland illegally. Trump borrowed this policy on the U.S. Southern border, i.e., don’t claim political asylum from Honduras when you traveled through two or three other countries to get here. There’s a difference between economic and political migrants.
