Alec Baldwin has shot and killed a cinematographer on the set of the upcoming Western movie Rust, after a prop firearm he was using in a scene discharged in a tragic accident.

That was plain old negligence, on many levels.
Probably, but one thing is for sure, with his dem/lib bona fides, no way will he ever be held to account for anything he did. He'll probably be offered immunity before he even speaks to investigators.

That’s what I’m thinking, point right at the camera, shoot and get the cinematographer and someone behind them. Who knows at this point, but if it was the cinematographer and director you have to think a scene. I wonder if it was multiple shots.

Why would anyone even still be using blanks or ‘wads’ or whatever? With today’s special effects just point and the animation folks can do the rest down to sounds, yes? Baldwin is a co-producer/actor so not like there’s a lack of access to editing talent

Someone really messed up an put a live round in the gun. Or did it on purpose. I am no Alec Baldwin friend but this is rough and very unfortunate for all involved.
I would think the gun should have been gone over prior to any use, cleaned, checked for any previous bullets or debri inside.

I don’t know, maybe she’s standing behind the actor he was pointing at? It’s a bit early to charge him with a crime.
I know this probably wasn't Baldwin's fault, but still, I would be okay with this ending his career
Movie gun props are mostly the province of a select handful of specialist suppliers with trained employees and rigorous safety procedures. Accidents tend to happen when corners are cut by producers hiring on the cheap.

the guy has been around prop guns since 1990
they spend time discussing safety with actors about these guns and explain they arent toys and can seriously hurt people if thet aren’t careful
