Joe Manchin does what is best for Joe Manchin. He stands a better chance of being reelected in heavily Trumpian W Virginia as an indepedent than a Dem, but there is no doubt he is a Dem to his core and he will causus with the Dems.

Agreed. I’m often critical of Manchin, but as an Independent he can opportunistically caucus with either party, and that may be necessary to keep his seat.

Ummm, may I remind you this is the same state that elected and kept re-electing the Klan Klown and cankle’s ‘mentor’, robert c. byrd. Nearly every public building in the state is named for that scumbag. Yes, I actually resided there for nearly 2 miserable years. There is a hamlet just outside Clarksburg WV (where byrd got the FIBs to move to as another of his many pork barrel projects) called Arlington-where raw sewage still runs in the ditches next to the streets. He ignored multiple attempts to help correct the problem for YEARS!
I hope things are changing but my hopes have been dashed before
