Port of LA’s operating hours this week.
If accurate, not 24/7...
LA ports a ghost town much of the weekend despite Biden's goal to move cargo
It would create artificial reefs for increased ocean life...

Aren’t the longshormen unions famous for featherbedding?
I mean beyond the usual Teamster and UAW stuff?
“Currently there seems to be no cargo owners who are looking to use the 3 am. to 8 a.m. window,” he told CNN. “Terminals don’t want to be open if there is no interest in using the gates. We’re not yet seeing demand by cargo owners to come get their cargo during the overnight hours.”
“The Port of LA is ready now. We have plenty of longshore workers. The issue is truckers and more importantly, cargo to be picked up,” he added. “We’re working with importers, terminals, etc. to get a demand for that window. There’s no one single lever to pull.”
Can you imagine being so cheapened by a lifetime of servitude to goverment grift that you can utter "There's no one single lever to pull" one. single. sentence. after "The issue is truckers".
"Meanwhile, Danielle Inman, a spokesperson for the National Retail Foundation, told Politifact that Assembly Bill 5—which critics have said triggered a wave of owner-operator truckers and trucking fleets to stop doing business in California—may be part of the issue why there’s a shipping backlog at the ports. However, she stressed it’s not the only reason."
Geebus. The denial is a river in Kalifornia.
That’s how he should be singing it.
gov Newsom was bought by the unions to force the use of union drivers and not independent drivers.
Funny how the media cannot figure out the connections between AB5 & the port chain of supply issues.....
AND ALL OWNER OPERATORS-—Only UNION large company drivers allowed.
They are burning FOSSIL FUELS in a holding pattern-—and there is a limited supply of food & fresh water for the crews.
Not reported by the Biden Press, but James Hoffa Jr. was at the Supply Chain summit demanding that all truckers working at the Ports of LA and Long Beach be members of the Teamsters.
Yes, I'm just not sure how much of that was changed when Trump renegotiated the NAFTA details.
You'd think that there would be clauses in shipping contracts allowing for cargo to be redirected in the event of port closures and other costly delays. Even if only the Panamax and smaller ships could head further east to the Mississippi (at higher operating costs), that would alleviate some of the problem.
Having such a large portion of our cargo handling in California is unacceptable.
Gov of FL sent out word that the ports of Florida are open and ships are welcome to come there. He also has trucks who can deliver the contents to the states.
