Hypersonic missiles are much faster and more agile than normal ones, meaning they are more difficult to intercept.Over-simplification. Depends on if you're talking in atmosphere or out of atmosphere, because missiles do both but at vastly different velocities. ICBMs are much faster in space than hypersonic vehicles are in the atmosphere. In the atmosphere, hypersonics are significantly faster than conventional anti-aircraft or anti-tank missiles, but to my knowledge the precision guidance is still not there.
