My new way of determining what the left is up to is to think of the most nefarious, evil, destructive thing they could do and figure that's what they will implement.

Chicago police have intensified their search for the fool that said "Beetlejuice" three times. Union spokesman said that if the person comes forward no charges will be pressed if the result of the incantation can be reversed.

They don’t mention retirement credentials, but it does appear an employee would have to get some documentation regarding service signed off on by a supervisor in the police department.

When you retire, you tell your boss and submit paperwork to HR. HR then coordinates with the Pension agency. If you retire effective immediately it might be a while before you get the first pension payment and it will likely be reduced at least 20% for a few months until work history is verified. Let's say paperwork gets slow walked for 6 months. You will eventually get a lump sum payment for the money withheld.

Bankruptcy also doesn’t get cities out of pension payment. Illinois Supreme Court shot that down by unanimous decision. The only way to walk away from pension debt is an amendment to the Illinois Constitution.
Else some cities, who have no budget for ANY police or fire or 911 would declare bankruptcy. Some poor suburbs of Chicago don’t even have enough money to write the pension checks. Illinois Supreme Court has ruled that pensions get top priority over all other obligations.
