COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio House Speaker Bob Cupp has squelched an attempt to revive legislative hearings on a bill that would forbid businesses from requiring employees be vaccinated against coronavirus or other diseases.
On Friday, the Ohio House Health Committee Chair Scott Lipps, a Warren County Republican, announced that he has canceled a scheduled seventh hearing next Wednesday on House Bill 248, which would prohibit employers, including hospitals and daycare centers, from requiring or even inquiring about whether their employees have been immunized.
n Thursday, the speaker told reporters that “it’s time to move on to other important topics” after both HB248 and an alternative bill, House Bill 435, failed to get enough votes from the Republican supermajority to pass. But Lipps, who has had anti-vaccine mandate protesters demonstrate outside his house, scheduled the Wednesday hearing anyway.
That led Cupp to publicly issue a letter to Lipps on Thursday night directing him to cancel the hearing.
Cleveland.com has reached out to Lipps for comment.
The Health Committee shelved HB248 last summer for lack of support after weeks of testimony that included bizarre and false theories about vaccines that made Ohio a national laughingstock.
The bill’s sponsor, state Rep. Jennifer Gross, a Butler County Republican, was kicked off the Health Committee last month by Cupp after she tried to collect signatures for a discharge petition that would force a floor vote on the legislation. As of Thursday, only 13 House members had signed Gross’ petition — far short of the 50 members needed to force a floor vote.
House GOP leaders then tried to advance HB435, which would have expanded exemptions for vaccine mandates, but that measure also failed to pass as the Republican supermajority was split on it.
These Republicans make me sick. They don’t represent us. They represent corporate and big business interests. These people HAVE to be voted out!

A law that forbids employers from having such mandates would be pure fascism. Let the free market work it out.

RINO’s are, and always have been, more destructive to humanity than Democrats. When we fight wars, we understand the enemy and may even empathize with them to a certain degree, as they are prisoners of their own state as much as propagandized by them. But when people ostensibly are supposed to represent OUR values side with the enemy, and make NO MISTAKE, by not letting the vote happen means the RINO’s AGREE 100 PERCENT WITH THE ENEMY, they have proven to be the true major villains. Always remember: RINO’s must be the first to be destroyed, then the Dems. It’s really that dire and humanity depends on it, though I fear the worst. Remember, 2A ain’t gonna save us, but it will allow us to take out a few thugs on the way to our demise.
“Let the free market work it out”…. This is how we got the “Robber Barons” and the monopolies. The “Free Market” is not a fail safe solution to protect individual rights and freedoms. This is not a question of “free markets”. It is a question of personal freedom for medical procedures. If you see it as the right to effect mandates….WHERE DO YOU DRAW THE LINE? Forced sterilization?

I am Cuban. Me thinks this other Cuban spent too much under government mandates in the old country. Businesses and governments HAVE NO right to “mandate” experimental vaccines on ANYONE!
