Colorado State University Threatened to Arrest Unvaccinated Students

Colorado State University says it is not arresting students who are unvaccinated, but those that come onto university property without disclosing their vaccine status will be trespassing.
Claims that students have been threatened with arrest are “a misrepresentation of the university’s communication to students,” CSU said in a statement posted Oct. 11.
On Sept. 27, the university’s Student Conduct Services began sending out letters to 1,325 students who had not yet provided information about their vaccine status or claimed an exemption.
This represents about 5 percent of more than 27,000 students with on-campus classes or activities, according to CSU.
The university said more than 900 of the 1,325 students have responded to the message since it went out.
A Sept. 30 letter to one student, sent electronically, stated that non-compliant students on campus property were trespassing and could be cited, or arrested.
The letter said non-compliance “poses a threat to the safety and well-being of the university community.”
“Effective immediately, you are trespassed from all University property until May 14, 2022,” the letter said.
“This means you are not permitted to be on any university property or in any university buildings, this includes—but is not limited to—residence halls, university apartments, dining halls, in-person classes,” and other facilities on campus.
“If you are found on university property, or in any university building, you may be cited, or arrested, for trespassing and face further disciplinary action.”
The “quickest way” to have the order removed is by complying with the university vaccination and screening mandate, the letter added.
The letter was signed by Michael Katz, Director of the Student Resolution Center, on university letterhead.

The good news is that the vaccinated are immune from the virus so they cannot catch it or pass it on to others...
Oh wait....

“...you are trespassed from all University property...”
Is that even proper grammar? I have never heard the word ‘trespass’ used that way.

Kinda reminds me of the hilarious old sign:
“Trespassers will be violated.”

My daughter earned her Masters Degree from CSU. When she heard that they were threatening to arrest unvaccinated students, she call the alumni association and told them that they should not count on any financial support from her.
She said that they weren’t answering the phones. So she left a phone message and sent an email.
When she emailed me about contacting the alumni association, I expressed concern for the poor jail inmates who would be exposed to these thoughtless students! /s

It actually is, and it’s a legal term. If someone is ‘trespassed,’ it means they have been officially notified that they are trespassing by law enforcement or other legally authorized personnel and that further presence on the property will result in arrest and incarceration. Official notice has been made as well in the record keeping system.
When police officers arrive to, say, a Karen making a scene because she didn’t get free food and she refuses to leave, they will ask if the manager wants the Karen ‘trespassed’ or if they simply want her removed and told to not come back.

Ok, it is a term used by cops but is it grammatically correct? Not necessarily the same thing. Just asking...

soo- they say “We’re not arresting unvaxxed people, but any unvaxxed people on grounds will be arrested for trespassing”
kinda like saying “We’re not peeing on your leg” while dumping a bucket full of urine on someone’s leg-

Interesting, thank you for that. I read the long explanation and it more or less supports the idea that this use of trespass is not seen prior to 1990, so in my completely idiosyncratic book, that means it gets a failing grade.

Anyone making the arrest will be wearing a hazmat suit? If not, they could become superspreaders.

From that link every definition is related to an attack or act of war. Nothing in it about my employer can force me to take X health treatment.

Biden is not using the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to force employers to mandate the vaccines for employees; he's using the OSHA regulations.
The problem is that there are no available vaccines that are not EUA, therefore the EUA requirements must apply when the vaccine is authorized under that code in the US law.
That means that a recipient of an EUA drug MUST be given the opportunity for informed consent and the option to not take the drug.
That's where the vaccine mandate breaks down. OSHA regulations can't dismiss the informed consent of the EUA.
Businesses cannot force the employee to give up their lawful right to consent or opt-out.

As parents, we need to be careful where our children go to college. CSU has been a liberal hellhole for a long time. I hope your daughter survived it.

"Consent under duress is not consent under the law"The students should keep the emails.
They will need them for future legal action.
