Is America Becoming Rome Versus Byzantium?

In A.D. 286 the Roman emperor Diocletian split in half the huge Roman Empire administratively – and peacefully – under the control of two emperors.

A Western empire included much of modern-day Western Europe and northwest Africa. The Eastern half controlled Eastern Europe and parts of Asia and northeastern Africa.

I like Victor David Hanson.

“But as in the past, it is far more likely that one state model will prove unsustainable and collapse than it is that either region would ever start a civil war.”

The problem with this? The “collapse” is financial and intentional. The Bi Coastal Leftist freaks are hell bent on absolutely destroying the USA as we know it. And converting it into the most Evil and Oppressive of all control systems since creation. i.e. Godless Totalitarianism empowered by total computer monitoring and Absolute Oppression. The worst possible form of Communism? Corporatism

Yes, Corporatism is Fascism on a Global Scale. The Ultimate form of Evil.

Hanson’s historical overview is not all that helpful. The Dems have seized control by Oligarch-influenced elections, emergency powers, and World Health Organization Pandemic Plan that waa never adopted by any state legislature or Congress. Future federal elections will be all rigged. The nation is running out of money for Social Security and Medicare by 2035. Pensions are 50% to 60% funded. Access to health care, courts, schools will be rationed according to whether you have the vax. Energy will be provided on subsistence level by solar and wind power for say 8 hours per day. You will be on your own for the remainder of the day. Water in California already is moving to rationing (think one bath a week like Europe). The elites will move to an anti-growth economy. You will have to give up your car if you are not wealthy. The Elites have formed an alliance with the Underclass to grab power for themselves in an uncivil war against the middle and working class. The Elites are culling out the military so it only serves their interests to protect them. Police and military will treat working class whites as second class citizens with no rights but will project their authoritarianism onto the working class. Media is already a boob tube or boob phone that will be used to track you. The intelligentsia running the federal level of government already has been grabbed by a foreign country and banking and money supply is already controlled by globalist bankers outside the country. So far, there has been no efforts to “build back” a local economy with savings and loan banks.

If completely selling out to china equals ‘collapse’, then the new romans are well on their way.

The analogy was stretched too far IMHO. Another take would be that Rome is to Byzantium as Western Europe is to the US, i.e. we kept the spirit of the Enlightenment going while Europe devolved toward socialism. But that’s prolly a bad analogy as well.

I have no doubt that many enlightened citizens of the Western Roman Empire felt the same about their "elites" the barbarians within their gates.

For all its warts fascism understands that humans are humans with the need to bond with kindred spirits. The globalism we are seeing is more from the left, i.e. the false belief that humans can be molded to fit any arbitrary ideology that the elites can come up with.

With all due respect to Dinesh, fascism is not a leftist ideology and no amount of yelling "liberals are the true fascists" is going to change that.

Fascism is a marriage of Industry and State.

NONE of these forms of government are based upon philosophy. They are all about Top Down Subjection.

Never, ever, get involved talking to leftists about their definitions of types of government. All they ever say is pure BS. It is not real, it is only words to keep the “true believer’s in place.

The NAZI’s (classical Fascism) were the German National Socialist Worker’s Party. Socialism is a Leftist concept.

Totalitarianism in all forms is Evil. They are all about force, subjection and top down command system. The most recent, Globalist, mutation of this is the Ultimate Evil. Spawn of Satan himself.

The Left has been planning this a long time.

UN Christiana Figueres “admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism”

If we do not learn the lessons of history, we are condemned to repeat the failures. (paraphrased)

History does not “repeat itself”.

I like VDH but you are correct, the analogy is lacking. Read St. Augustine’s City of God to understand the real reasons why Rome fell.

America is 2 countries... both were on display in the summer of 1969.

on the one hand you had the left screwing randoms in the mud at woodstock while stoned out of their mind... a lifestyle they’ve promoted to this day.

and on the other you had the right on full display as Niel Armstrong took man’s first step onto another world. Science, Math, Engineering all coming together for yet another human first from America.

Today, the right loves America’s Founders, the Constitution, the flag, (most of) the people, and the country in general (with obvious blue sewer exceptions).

The left hates the Founders, the Constitution, the flag, the people, and most parts of the country.

when it comes down to it... it will be the job of the right to toss out those on the left who are working to undermine and destroy the country.

there is no other way at this point.

VDH’s analogy is not really correct. One side is not trying to snuff out the other side, while the other is doing the snuffing, day in, day out.

The author clear respects and admires the steadfastness of Orthodox Christianity!:

We moderns certainly have developed unfair stereotypes of a supposedly decadent late imperial Rome of Hollywood sensationalism that deserved its end. And we likewise mistakenly typecast a rigid, ultra-orthodox bureaucratic "Byzantine" alternative that supposedly grew more reactionary to survive in a rough neighborhood.

Yet in both cases, separate geography multiplied the growing differences between a Greek-speaking, Orthodox Christian and older civilization in the east, versus a more or less polyglot and often fractious Christianity in the Latin West.

Byzantium held firm against ancient neighboring Persian, Middle Eastern and Egyptian rivals. But the West disintegrated into a tribal amalgam of its own former peoples.

Unlike the West, the glue that held the East together against centuries of foreign enemies, was the revered idea of an ancient and uncompromising Hellenism -- the preservation of a common, holistic Greek language, religion, culture and history.

"With all due respect to Dinesh, fascism is not a leftist ideology and no amount of yelling "liberals are the true fascists" is going to change that"

Sorry, but that is a Big Lie, and you should well know it.
The fact is that all major fascist leaders claimed to be Socialists-- i.e. "National Socialists ".

Sure, Stalin's communists claimed fascists were "right wing", but that only meant "right" of Stalin.
In our terms "Right wing" means Constitutional, limited government, Christianity (or traditional religion) and Capitalism, not necessarily in that order.

So there's no legitimate way to say that fascists are "right wing".
