~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Camp Beauregard, Louisiana

LAcampbeauregard1

Camp Beauregard is a U.S. Army installation located northeast of Pineville, Louisiana, primarily in Rapides Parish, but also extending northward into Grant Parish. It is operated and owned by the Louisiana National Guard as one of their main training areas.

The current base covers 12,500 acres and is home to many different units and elements of the Louisiana Army National Guard. The camp was named for Louisiana native and Confederate General Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard. Camp Beauregard is one of ten U.S. Army installations named for former Confederate Generals.

LAcampbeauregard5

Camp Beauregard’s long history of supporting the training and mobilization of United States military personnel dates back to World War I through present day conflicts. The installation serves as the primary annual training and pre-mobilization training platform for the Louisiana National Guard.

The mission of Camp Beauregard is to support all training of the LANG and Department of Defense (DoD) customers in support of military and emergency operations both federal and state. In support of DoD force generation, Camp Beauregard provides quality training and training support resources/facilities for pre-mobilization and post-mobilization (as needed).

LAcampbeauregard4

Additionally, Camp Beauregard serves as both a staging base for Louisiana National Guard personnel and logistical staging area for various emergency response agencies during times of State and Federal Emergencies.

LAcampbeauregard3

Louisiana’s infantry tradition extends back to 1770 and the organization of the Louisiana militia under Spanish General Alexander O’Reilly. After the Louisiana Purchase, American commanders largely kept the same organization created by O’Reilly. Louisiana infantry units took part in the War of 1812, the Seminole Wars, the Mexican-American War, the Civil War, and the Spanish American War before the modernization of the National Guard.

The Greatest Teacher
Read: Isaiah 40:12–14

Who was it that taught [the Lord] knowledge? Isaiah 40:14

“I don’t get it!” My daughter slapped her pencil down on the desk. She was working on a math assignment, and I’d just begun my “job” as a homeschooling mom/teacher. We were in trouble. I couldn’t recall what I’d learned thirty-five years ago about changing decimals into fractions. I couldn’t teach her something I didn’t already know, so we watched an online teacher explain the skill.

As human beings, we’ll struggle at times with things we don’t know or understand. But not God; He’s the all-knowing One—the omniscient One. Isaiah wrote, “Who can . . . instruct the Lord as his counselor? Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding?” (Isaiah 40:13–14). The answer? No one!

Humans have intelligence because God created us in His own image. Still, our intelligence is just an inkling of His. Our knowledge is limited, but God knows everything from eternity past to eternity future (Psalm 147:5). Our knowledge is increasing today with the aid of technology, but we still get things wrong. Jesus, however, knows all things “immediately, simultaneously, exhaustively and truly,” as one theologian put it.

No matter how much humans advance in knowledge, we’ll never surpass Christ’s all-knowing status. We’ll always need Him to bless our understanding and to teach us what’s good and true.Jennifer Benson Schuldt

In what types of situations are you thankful for God’s omniscience? How does knowing that Jesus understands everything encourage you?

Jesus, I praise You as the One who knows everything. Teach me what You want me to learn, and help me to love You with all my mind.

Bible in a year: Isaiah 39–40; Colossians 4

I live near the VA JUST off Montoe Highway. New Cajun restaurant in plaza across from Walmart on main gate road.
Also Whataburger up behind Walmart, on road with bank and Goodwill store.
In front is Popeye’s Chicken, with Outlaw’s ribs behind that. Walmart has Subway inside.
Back towards me, on Monroe Hwy., is a steak and sushi place, a Chinese restaurant. Opposite them is Big Mac, Burger King.
At 6 way stoplight near Walmart, is a Huddle House, with a Sonic drive-in nearby. If needed, at location of China Queen restaurant, is Super1 supermarket ( that has a very good plate lunch, each day, to go from the deli in back—).
Hope your visit is a good one, Temps today where 85/73, with rain forecast for tomorrow. (That means getting into the va median, and getting out to enter my apt. after dialysis, I might have a shower.;)

Pretty restful day mostly. I did have a little ride on Blue and taught one lesson.

The weather was brisk, but lovely as the leaves are changing slowly.
