Lego has vowed to remove gender stereotypes from its toys, after a survey revealed how boys fear they will be 'made fun of' if they play with toys marketed for girls.

Can't imagine anybody saying, "My boy!" when looking at this.
I always thought dolls are what you pull the heads off of.
I have no problem with removing the 1950’s everything must be pink or blue thing. Pink lego sets seem silly, they don’t have blue lego sets that I am aware of. From a supply chain standpoint it makes sense to just have legos that anyone can use.
I wonder if that means that the pink lego sets will end up being collectors items?
But they’ll still hurt like h*ll when you step on one.
Something is backwards in their thinking on this. If boys are disinclined to play with toys with girl oriented marketing while girls are less influenced by boy specific marketing, wouldn’t it make sense to make the product more boy oriented, not less?
Boys and their desire to build and destroy have been the heart of Lego sales since I was a boy who would build things out of Legos just to have them fight and destroy each other. The newer lines of Lego are touchy-feely girl oriented and turn boys off. They are not going to change boys, only undercut their own sales.
“That’s not my boy. My boy is a lumberjack in the Pacific Northwest!”
Boys and girls know the difference. It is the ‘liberal’ parents (mentally ill) who want to try new things and decided that their kids can be any gender they want which is nonsense.
I think that is probably whats going to happen here, they are probably going to do away with the pink girly legos and go to something that won’t embarrass little boys to be seen playing with. It looks like the 3rd party sellers are already on this as pink legos now cost 3 or 4 times what regular legos cost.
Hahahahahahahaha!
That one made me grin widely!!!!!!
That has to be from the Babylon Bee!
I loved GI-Joes when I was a kid...I remember up on the second floor, with my GI Joe with that grip holding my sister’s Barbie upside down over the railing while she screamed below!
I want one of those!
That is not what this article was saying. Looks like they intend to double down on the woke, touchy feely playsets base on the discussion with Feminist “Gender Advocacy” groups, LBGT+ activist VP in their design department and the marketing chief saying they want to be more “inclusive”. Their only idea is to remove the labels of boys and girls from the marketing materials while they push out product that encourages “nurturing.” That won’t fly with boys who don’t care what the marketing materials say, just whether or not the set is cool or uncool.
Jacks are worse. Much worse.
Apparently the only gendered figure in the one set will be the purple figure with the beehive hairdo, the drag queen. If they go with all little rainbow colored figures in all the sets instead of the ones in various flesh tones, than yeah, you’re right. If otoh they just get rid of gendered stuff, the girlied up pink sets, and the packaging that says for girls or for boys will be what changes. We’ll see what they do, but I’m betting that they are spinning this to sound woke so that they don’t get dragged over the coals for ditching all the Barbie pink products. Which means that the purple one is probably going to meet the same fate as the Barbies.
Pete Townshend was a prophet.
I’m a Boy - The Who
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TR58rK28Aw
One girl was called Jean Marie
Another little girl was called Felicity
Another little girl was Sally Joy
The other was me, and I’m a boy
My name is Bill and I’m a headcase
They practice making up on my face
Yeah, I feel lucky if I get trousers to wear
Spend evenings taking hairpins from my hair
[Chorus]
I’m a boy, I’m a boy
But my ma won’t admit it
I’m a boy, I’m a boy
But if I say I am I get it
Get your frock on, Jean Marie
Plait your hair, Felicity
Paint your nails, little Sally Joy
Put this wig on, little Boy
[Chorus]
Help me wash up, Jean Marie
You can dry, Felicity
Stack the dishes, Sally Joy
Behind them struggles, I’m a Boy
[Chorus]
I wanna play cricket on the green
Ride my bike across the stream
Cut myself and see my blood
I wanna come home all covered in mud
[Chorus]
I’m a boy, I’m a boy
But my ma won’t admit it
I’m a boy, I’m a boy, I’m a boy
I’m a boy, I’m a boy, I’m a boy, I’m a boy
I’m a boy, I’m a boy, I’m a boy
I mean, the animal rescue one is a natural for kids that want to be veterinarians when they grow up. They shouldn’t be labeled specifically for girls.
Look at where they did a large chunk of the research, former Soviet bloc countries, China, in addition to our own country. I think its spin to some degree for the English speaking market. If you look at the little rainbow colored figures even, 5 look like girls, 6 look like boys. They might claim that the only gendered figure is the purple drag queen, but it just looks like a female with a 1960’s hairdo.
