On October 2, the Talladega Superspeedway was the host of a Sparks 300 race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Brandon Brown was the winner, and sportscaster Kelli Stavast believed the crowd were chanting for him during the race.
They were shouting, 'Let's go Brandon!' - or so she thought.
It turned out the fans had a very different intention and were actually shouting out against President Joe Biden.
The chant, believed to have been led by Trump supporters, was actually "F*** Joe Biden," and has since been heard at several other sporting events.
While the chant itself is not new, the idea of the song being in support of Brandon has seemed to capture the imaginations of meme-makers.
Even Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. got involved with his own tweet, which took place at a protest outside the New York Department of Education.
The meme began when, as Brown was being interviewed on NBC by Stavast, she misheard the chant, thinking it was for Brown after his win.
Brown said: "Oh my God, this is just everything we've hoped and dreamed for. Everything I've ever wanted to do is take the trophy home to mom and dad.
Stavast replied: "Brandon, you also told me... you can hear the chants from the crowd, 'Let's Go Brandon.'..."
She paused to let the chant ring out as she continued asking another question, but it became clear this was not the chant at all.
The NASCAR driver gamely continued the interview, not focusing on the protestors.
This meme quickly spread,

Second, the reason why this has taken hold is best explained by rlmorel:
And right there, on national television, we saw it in action, however clumsy and amateurish in the attempt by Kelli Stavast that it was. When I saw that, it brought to mind the observation that Alexandr Solzhenitsyn once made:
"We know they are lying, they know they are lying, they know we know they are lying, we know they know we know they are lying, but they are still lying."
The Leftists ignore reality, fact, reason, and liberty. Any criticism of their inability to take those into account in their destructive actions simply rolls off their backs like water off a duck.
But one thing they cannot abide is when they become the object of genuine, heartfelt ridicule. And that is exactly what "Let's Go Brandon!" is...:)
She did not “think” they were chanting Let’s go Brandon. Her little ear piece told her what to say. Big dif in FUB and LGB
Let’s go Brandon, let’s go.
Let’s go Brandon, let’s go.
Let’s go Brandon, let’s go.
Let’s go Brandon, let’s go.
Let’s go Brandon, let’s go.
Let’s go Brandon, let’s go.
Let’s go Brandon, let’s go.
Had that bottled up.
Good thing we have Newsweek to explain. /s

Their audience needs explanations.
Extra implied spin is that the chant just started in October, but it’s been since before Football season started a month before.
“We know they are lying, they know they are lying, they know we know they are lying, we know they know we know they are lying, but they are still lying.”

We’ve arrived at the same state as the old Soviet Union where people knew everything reported was a lie. Workers pretended to work. Factory bosses reported glowing fake numbers to their superiors. The entire system was riddled with so many unchecked falsehoods no one could know what was happening; except people know by their own lives it was getting worse and worse.
Newsweak.
I think you meant “Newspeak”...:)

Newsweek is slipping. They should have blamed the chanting on Russian agents.
And so it appears that they’re conceding that Trump supporters are so numerous that there is no one left to drown them out.
I can live with that.
Guerrilla marketing is fun and low-cost.
I prefer the original “F Joe Biden” It’s much more poetic and beautiful
