Southwest Airlines canceled hundreds more flights Monday following a weekend of major service disruptions.
According to Flightaware, the carrier has cancelled 348 flights Monday and delayed another 271 flights.
The Dallas-based airline had blamed air traffic control issues and weather for its weekend “operational challenges” that saw over 1,000 cancelled flights on Sunday alone. Southwest Airlines was the only airline to report the issues on that scale.
Southwest has struggled all summer with high numbers of delayed and canceled flights. In August it announced it was trimming its September schedule by 27 flights a day, or less than 1%, and 162 flights a day, or 4.5% of the schedule, from early October through Nov. 5.

I think you should make alternate travel arrangements.
It’s not just you.
All part of the plan.
It’s been “stews” since at least 1973.
Hey, but at least there’s no mean tweets. Let’s Go Brandon!
“But South West is suing over the mandates.”
Who is Southwest suing? There is no government executive order or anyting in place that makes them have a mandate. It’s their own damn decision and they deserve the consequences.
Inconvenience? Our freedom and our rights are at stake. This goes much deeper than just someone being inconvenienced.
I joined, and this was in the email they sent
“We all need to make some sacrifices the next few months. You may need to postpone that trip to the Islands or to Europe. This is not forever. This is temporary. Stand your feet on stone and say NO THANK YOU. Do not let the pressures get to you. They are doing this on purpose and we urge you not to give in. We will get through this. TOGETHER.”
Doesn’t really sound the same. Originally I thought they were backing the pilots not showing up for work. I think a strike like this is better than a meeting. This will certainly get people’s attention. I’m not going to give them any more money if all they’re going to do is hold meetings.
Southwest needs to be held accountable for falsely blaming whether and ATC for flight delays. They did this, I’m sure, to avoid FAA Rule 214 or whatever it is about airline responsibility for the impact of flight delays and cancellations. Make them pay! Every aspect of their Covid hysteria should cost them dearly.
A friend flying from Reno was delayed more than 12 hours yesterday on a flight from Reno to Las Vegas. Their delays are all over the US.
My mistake. I meant to say the SW union is suing.
That's always what I've heard about Southwest Airlines, but man.... my husband and I have had some really shi**y SW flights recently.
The last SW flight we were on was a major nightmare. On the day we had to fly from San Francisco to Hartford, CT, Southwest flights were cancelled all over the country. They said it was weather (there WAS bad weather in parts of the country that day), plus a LOT of their planes broke down on the same day apparently, leaving us stranded overnight in Chicago Midway Airport (slept in the seats).
Then our luggage flew home to Hartford, CT (BDL), while we weren't able to get a seat on a SW Airlines flight to BDL for several days. We opted to fly to Manchester, NH the next morning. Had to rent a car there, then race to BDL Airport and *hope* our luggage (which arrived hours earlier) wasn't stolen.
Oh, and the flight from Chicago Midway to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport was jam-packed, and one of the most miserable, turbulent flights we've ever been on. Ugh.
We have flights scheduled next month to visit family in CA: We're flying JetBlue.
Same here. After the past several fairly recent flights my husband and I have endured with SWA, they're on my sh*t list now. I call SWA the "Greyhound Bus of the Air".
Long wait times at Syracuse emergency rooms lead hospitals to divert patients
Spot on!!
We have cancelled two major trips, this year, before these pilots/ATC pushing back, on the mandates, over the absurd masking mandates.
Just. Not. Worth. It. to support these tyrannical airlines, right now.
Is it just me or has everything gone to sh*t since Biden moved in to the WH.
You’re just now realizing this??
It began DAYS after his faux inauguration.
😮
But the USAF is flying in them Afghani ‘’refugees’’ , yes sir no problems there.
i’d take some inconvenience to break the mandates..
power to the people anyone remember that saying?
its the vaccination blues...
