Antarctica's last 6 months were the coldest on record
CNN via CTV news ^ | 10 09 2021 | Allison Chinchar

In a year of extreme heat, Antarctica's last six months were the coldest on record.

"For the polar darkness period, from April through September, the average temperature was -60.9 degrees Celsius, a record for those months," the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) said.

The last six months is also the darkest period at the South Pole, which is where the name polar darkness (also called polar night) comes from. Here, the sun sets for the last time around the spring equinox, and does not rise again until near the autumn equinox six months later.

For the entire Antarctic continent, the winter of 2021 was the second-coldest on record, with the "temperature for June, July, and August 3.4 degrees Celsius lower than the 1981 to 2010 average at -62.9 degrees Celsius," according to a new report from the NSIDC.

This is the second-coldest winter (June-July-August months) on record, behind only 2004 in the 60-year weather record at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station," the NSIDC said.

The reason for the cold is simple, it has not warmed at the South Pole. Therefore weather, being random, can result in colder-than-ever temperatures (at least since 1959 when they started measuring there).

Did you guys see this beauty?

“It is important to understand weather is different from climate. Weather is what happens over shorter periods of time (days to months), such as the seven-day forecast. Climate is what happens over much longer periods of time, such as several years, or even blah blah blah”

Funny, CNN and the other media, (not to mention the gurus at the National Science Foundation) forgot to mention this when they were blaming the drought in California, or Hurricane Ida on Global Warming.

The media, aren’t they a howl?

About when do you think mankind will be able to say that it has the science of the Earth’s core under its collective belt?

Gosh . . . climate change sure is complicated!

No, it's not. It's about totalitarian government, not the climate.

"Scientists also agree that since the 1950s extreme cold snaps do occur, but climate change is bringing far more heat records than cold records."

2 scientists don't determine reality. The Scientific Method relies on DATA not on "consensus" (which is a political component managed by threat of funding).

In the 1960s they said global cooling was going to kill us all and lead to mass starvation by 2000.

Those “scientists” are brilliant and amazing!

Suppose the climate and population activists get their wish. If I know human nature, it won’t become the homogenized, “sustainable” utopia they dream about. They’ll restratify; then the elites will find exceptions to themselves for all the rules they imposed on everyone else; and be at one another’s throats again.

Just more proof global warming is real. The warming causes extremely cold weather, and also extremely warm weather. The only solution is kill off 95% of the population and stop all energy production. It would also be more effective if the population that is killed off are Americans and first world serfs. Only the elite should be allowed to live.

Bingo.

It is all "climate change". The climate is always changing, so everything is always "climate change". No science involved. Only theories which can be tested can be science. Climate change cannot be tested, because the climate is always changing.

"Climate change" has become a religion used for social control.

Here in Los Angeles we’ve have an unusually mild summer. Temps have reached the 90’s only a few times in the past four months. Zero 100-degree days which normally occur several times in August/September. I’m not complaining!

Exactly. According to man-made global warming an alleged hot weather event is proof of man-made global warming but any cooling weather event does not disprove man-made global warming.
